if you explore the house thoroughly at all stages of the first episode, you'll find that the guy is lurking outside in your driveway before you go downstairs for food (visible from parents' window), comes into the house through the back door and goes upstairs while you're eating (door is left ajar before you go upstairs), is in the house when you go to do homework and at some point during your nap goes downstairs and sets the TV to some kind of developer mode (it is on and showing a debug screen when you're getting water), then at the front door (visible through the blinds), then breaks the parents' window and enters the house through there while neighbor is ringing the bell outside, then he bails and leaves the house as the police pull up. probably the guy was trying to rob the place and somehow locked himself out, and will kill a random kid who's in the way lol
@Midorikonokami
@Midorikonokami 3 ай бұрын
No, the developer said the only thing he wanted to rob was the Protag. His aim was to kidnap the OP, but he possibly through there was too much noise and too many people awake (dog barking at him, cars passing) when he broke in the first time, and the Protag possibly locked his door to his bedroom. So he left, leaving the backdoor open intending to come back later. Only he got spotted (lit window opposite belongs to Neighbour Paula), as he had to come back around front, since the protag found the door open and closed it (player presumably seeing someone go up the stairs, closes the door). He's at the door and spots them when the protag raise the blinds, at which point he knows he has limited time to grab him and go. Protag hides under their bed - possibly also locking the door to their bedroom again, and the man breaks in and hides in the parent's bedroom. Paula comes to ring the bell, alerting him that someone is on their way, and if the protag stays in their room long enough, the man escapes. The asset for the intruder is called 'Gramps', and he's a nonce kidnapper.

Insym not understanding how large the USA is, and how many rail roads you'd need to go everywhere to have trains go everywhere. And still the lack of any passenger rail networks in most of the entire country since most that existed got removed because transport trucks were considered a cheaper alternative, even thou in the long run trains were still cheaper.

As a kid, someone breaking in was a huge fear since my parents were always out of the house. Being an adult now, I double lock my front door and turn my porch light on. I usually have a handgun under my bed in quick access safe so if I ever need it, it's there. I know it's probably stupid or it doesn't make sense to some, but, it's what I do to make myself more secure. And having been shooting the better half of my life and training for the last 4 years, I'm very happy with my security.

So the train thing is actually a bit complicated. There are a lot of trains throughout the US (cities and their transit capabilities differ ofc). But we have Amtrak as our main train system. However, the problem really is that the freight companies own all of the intercontinental railways and so passenger trains are second. Also, with cost and time factored in, many people rather fly. Though I have taken a train from Chicago to Arizona and it was great. I loved it. It was expensive though compared to a flight. I'd love to see better options for trains here, and there has been talk, but people are greedy. And some cities may need to do complete overhauls to accommodate rails. Train is my favorite mode of transportation, and I don't see it being possible without a lot of work. But hopefully we'll see some push soon!

To answer your question Insym, trains would indeed be so much nicer but we don’t have the proper railroad systems to facilitate that kind of convenient travel. Even though we had what we called the Continental Railroad at the birth of the modern era, which is what you mentioned, public transportation systems are still absolutely abysmal here and unless you have a car it’s usually a massive headache trying to get anywhere. And since lord knows plane tickets can be expensive, a lot of us just suck it up and drive interstate when we have to 💀

trains are moslty for cargo in the usa. also the entire us is about as big as europe with 100 million people less and a high city concentration so lots of open space for towns to spread out so our towns and smaller cities are not walker friendly so you need to then rent a car or something once you get there. taking a train is possible, but they dont go to every town either. it is also cost. It is cheaper to drive than take a train, especially when you factor in needing to rent a car or taxi rides when you get there.
@andrewmenees473
@andrewmenees473 Жыл бұрын
I get this is two months old. but trains are primarily used for hauling different materials or products in the US, and not people. People still ride them sometimes (like there's a passenger train that runs from Dallas, Texas to Chicago, Illinois, and several places in between), but they somehow became inefficient for passengers and extremely efficient for freight. Not 100% sure why or how, but most people drive or fly to go anywhere in the US. I don't know a ton about trains, I just love them, but I've ridden several to go visit family for fun and they're not so bad if you aren't in a rush and willing to talk to strangers. I bet them European trains are freakin nice, though.

Yes trains built the US, but most of those trains were freight trains, not passanger trains. To this day the majority of rail companies are involved in freight transport. Passenger lines still exist, but unless you live near one it is a huge pain to get to it. Freind of mine needed to get to New York from Iowa super quick, along with her 2 kids, and the cost to fly last min was out of her price range, so she had her Dad drive her 3 hrs south to get to the bus station, so she could take the bus to the closest passenger train station to get to NY. They flew home for a reason.

US trains - most are cargo trains. There's a lot in my area. But passenger trains are extremely rare. NYC has subway systems, as do many huge cities, I think. But really all we have are personal cars. There's a bit of a public bus system but that's for tour-like group trips or people with disabilities/elderly. The US heavily relies on personal transport. Kinda screwed without it. I've personally never seen a passenger train in my life and I've been in at least 18 states.

Break-ins are so scary. Sometimes I worry about it at night when I'm the only one awake in the house, enough that I absolutely cannot watch home invasion shows/games at night. I have self defense weapons but they're upstairs, and the stairs are right by the front door. At the very least, I know if there's any strange noise, my dogs will bark to let me know. They're small dogs and timid so they couldn't do much in the way of attacking, but I try to tell myself that the barking would scare an intruder off. Break-ins are usually to steal things, not kill people, and they want as little hassle as possible. Dogs barking before they even get inside would definitely be a hassle. That's what I tell myself anyway, lmao
@siccithicci2188
@siccithicci2188 Жыл бұрын
People usually case houses for a while before doing break ins. 9/10 it's during the day when everyone is at work and school. And yes, having yappy dogs is a BIG deterrent for robbery casings. Especially if you live in "shared fences" neighborhoods with even a mild amount of security cameras on the outsides of houses. The most commonly targeted neighborhoods are those in more rural, richers areas where the nearest neighbor is at least an acre over. I grew up in an impoverished neighborhood and a neighbor who was 14 years older than me that I grew up with him and his younger siblings unfortunately was in a robbery ring when he got older after his dad passed away. He felt responsible for taking care of his family and that was the only way he knew how. He let me in on a lot of trade secrets. Good guy, just got wrapped up in the wrong things. Hope this helps you sleep easier!
@siccithicci2188
@siccithicci2188 Жыл бұрын
And as far as in home murders go. Those are almost always committed by people with a personal grudge. There's been random murders of people in homes before, but those are also usually done in more rural areas or in cases where the doors in the home were left unlocked. Unlocked doors was actually seen as an invitation by a serial killer in Cali in the 70's. Richard Chase I believe. So as long as you aren't pissing people off, lock your doors, and keep your neighbors close and yappy dogs closer, tbh you're good. In home random murders are MUCH less common than they used to be, and they weren't even common before.

I hate our car dependence, I always hate it when we get bashed for not having trains, or walkable towns, or trolleys, etc. I'm just forced to sit here saying I know as a single tear rolls down my face. I had to drive half the country a few months ago and I was so upset we didn't have trains, we had to get a hotel room twice on the trip and pay for so much gas. It would have been faster and cheaper if we had passenger trains, plus I wouldn't have been bored out of my mind driving my manual car with no cruise control that had a broken sound system for a total of 30 hours in 4 days.

I looked this up the other day because I was interested. The Netherlands is a little less than one third the size of my state (Missouri) but also contains three times the population. There are train available but not many, and they are fairly expensive. Our government is too busy giving away our money on nonsense instead of investing in basic infrastructure that would benefit the citizens. It’s just cheapest to drive your own car for trips. Your going to need a rental car anyway when you get there. I even tow my camper back to Pennsylvania and Massachusetts when we go to visit family. It’s cheaper than a hotel. It’s about 1200 miles and takes around 20 hours give or take for pee breaks and meals.

And in those, you have to keep your lawn the same, can't paint your house any crazy colors, can't let your lawn die, can't have weeds, etc. There are a lot of rules and they suck! So word to the wise, don't move into a neighborhood with an HOA.
