Hearing they wrote this song about their kids growing up and leaving the house rips my heart out in the best way possible
@DustinPoynterVideos8 жыл бұрын
According to Feldman in an interview, this is a song that Mark wrote about his son Jack when he leaves home for college/a career in the future, and how it scares him. And also, I was watching Blink's Huffington Post interview and Mark said that "Home is such a lonely place without you" was his favorite lyric, and I had been wondering why until now. Knowing all of this just really opened my eyes to this song and made it a million times better. I'm getting chills just listening to it back again. I think they should do a track-by-track in depth interview and explain some of these songs in further detail because I think there's a lot of things like this that fans might miss.

@DustinPoynterVideos8 жыл бұрын
182punkbunny Yep. This was one of the tracks on the record that just wasn't doing anything for me after the first couple of listens. But the more I looked into it and then found that stuff out, it's now one of my favorites. Top 3. I think more people need to do that with this record instead of just bashing it, because if you take a close look at some of these lyrics, they're very introspective and heartfelt. At the very least, any hardcore Tom DeLonge/Blink fan could appreciate the thought that they put into this.

I want to thank you writing this comment. this song and comment is what unlocked the album for me. before re-listening to this song earlier today and finding this comment I thought this album was alright. but then your comment showed me the extra layers of meaning in this song and the track by track interview and now my mind is blown by the whole album and this is my favorite song. Thanks
@DustinPoynterVideos8 жыл бұрын
fearguyQ That's amazing. And yeah I was one of those people who was thinking the record was just pretty good after the first couple of listens, because I have to let the songs sink in first. Now it's undoubtedly my favorite record of the year. There are so many dark and heartfelt themes in these songs that I think might've been really lacking on the last album.

my grandpa passed away 2 days after this album dropped. this song instantly hit home. he battled with a congestive heart and kidney disease for over 2 years. "don't wait for me" reminds me of his 6 kids, my uncle who passed, 18 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren who went to the hospice and waited while he left the world. it's contradicting, but he waited. I love this song. and home, our family, is spinning like the moon in outer space without him.

listen kids, it does t matter if Tom went off to do angels and airwaves, or as I like to calm them "blink182 iiinnn spaaaccee". what matters is that Mark and Travis still make music, and so does Tom. it doesn't fucking matter that Tom isn't in the band anymore. Tom is great in his own right, but so are Mark and Travis. Matt Skiba is amazingly talented too. just because he's not a founding member of blink means nothing. he's a punk at heart like the rest of them and just like many of us fans/listeners. this album might not be the angst-fueled "enema of the state" we half way expected, but new fan or long time fan, regardless I'd hope we can all agree that the music is good. blink isnt dead without tom. just...different.
@Sourmouth6 жыл бұрын
DCMercer hey so quike question literally listened to blink for the first time not even a yr ago literally one of my favorite groups ever lol anyway my question was which one was Tom, was he a lead singer and wow if he was cause dude was awesome but that means dude on this tracks a replacement who if I don’t say so my self is prolly jus as good like how are they not in the rock n roll hall of fame every single one of em is talented af!!
@punkyagogo6 жыл бұрын
What's sad is that Matt is a good singer but not a strong guitarist, so we may never see certain Blink songs covered because he simply can't play them. Even when they play this song live, he just strums the chords. Also, him and Mark sing in similar ranges so that contrast in vocals is now lost. Tom's melodically catchy riffs and higher pitched voice juxtaposed with Travis's drum style and Mark's rhythmic bass is what made Blink stand out among the countless see of other pop punk artists. Now, Blink just sounds like any other pop punk band.

Not gonna lie, I think that home is such a lonely place is easily the best song on the album. The lyrics are not entirely innovative, but the instrumental part is particularly good, and you can tell that the song has a lot more feeling and weight to it than a lot of the others that just sound like catchy pop songs.

Just heard it. I miss my daughter. She’s not living me at time . It’s been now almost a year with her not living at home. My wife and me fell into a wrong path. I was ale to get on my good ways but my wife is having trouble . She’s been dealing with some under lining mental issues and self medicated. I have tried to help her but refuses to accept help and reality. I am now force to choose. My daughter or my wife. My daughter can’t be around my wife due to her issues, it affects her. I’m lost and hearing this song brakes me down just remembering how a good life we all had. Married for 16 years and now things may come to an end. Sad song. Peace everyone.
