I'm building a mini aluminum hull 4x8 11g. I'm thinking of buying your gear reduction an prop what would yall suggest on prop size and reduction will be a single seater an what speed should I see

I’d go with the standard 1.68:1 reduction ratio with something like a 4 blade 48” propeller or a 3 blade 52” propeller. The bigger 3 blade will give you more thrust but you’d have to keep the weight very low to make sure it’s stable. If you’re using the Predator 22 hp you could probably get 25 mph pretty easily

Me and my dad were looking at building something like this. Where we live in Sweden there’s a shallow lake with hogs living around it. It’s really hard to maneuver but I think something like this would be awesome. What does it cost to build one? Do you know approximate price for a big one vs small one?

If you don't mind me asking, How much did it cost for the cage, the prop blade and the engine?

I got the engine on sale at Harbor Freight for around $600. This is the belt reduction drive and propeller combo we sell for $1,099. And I built the cage out of 1/2" conduit and stainless bolts, and 1" chicken wire. it probably cost about $60 total.

Have you tried going on land with this? If so how did it handle?

It'll go over some smooth land if you come at it already moving, but it won't start from a dead stop on land. For some limited dry ground running one of the bigger 35-40 hp engines is better.

You'll probably need at least 80-100 horsepower. I would looks at something like the Subaru EJ22, Suzuki/Geo G16, Rotax 912, or one of the newer compact car engines like the Honda Fit.

How are the Predator engines holding up? Saw a couple of other guys use one on a mini dragster and the oil pump failed. Have you had any oil pump failures?

So far, so good. I don't run it that hard, around 3000-3600 rpm max. The oil pump has been good so far. The only problem I've had is with the pulse fuel pump that comes with it, which is too weak to pump enough gas at full throttle if the gas tank isn't at the same level as the engine.

No, the Predator 22 doesn't have enough power to run dry. On a very lightweight boat with slick bottom, some of the bigger V-twins like Vanguard or Kohler 35-40 hp can start to run one person dry

It’s a 3 blade 56” Ultra-Prop, and it’s on a 1.90:1 belt reduction drive

Sure, it would handle a VW pretty well. It would give it more payload capacity.

Com certeza. motor VW a ar é usado até em aviação. Para ter um empuxo melhor com hélice maior o ideal seria usar um sistema de redução por Correia. Mas mesmo sem funcionará

He corresponds via email from his website. 14x36 is huge, you might get on plane but doubt it. You would need at least 100hp, try a 350 small block

Thanks! I was getting to 3600 rpm, so there are a couple more horsepower to be had at the high end. I'm about to install a better air filter to see how much I gain, then I may de-pitch the prop slightly to get up to 4000 rpm.

Wouldn't the power be limited, like the prop speed? You would only benefit by manipulation of the prop pitch and web size yes?

@@jason32708 I do not believe it would but all engines reaches a limit peak you can change the gear ratio to change revolutions on the prop. But in response to that it grants the motor higher quality parts with maximum performance top peak rpm 7500 - 8000 rpm following by more displacement torque and the engine weight is reduced by the CNC machines parts billet aluminum and the throttle response would be crazy. See Red Beard Garage nice stuff he has. But figured it would do more on the project instead of stock faster take off probably like a race boat. But I'll never get a chance to do something cool like that
