I have that same blower in my front yard. Great Grandpa bought it for the forge he used for horseshoes. Me and my cousins must have turned the crank a million times when we were growing up. For a while we even moved it by the faucet next to the barn as a hillbilly hand dryer.

Mine is kinda like yours, but it looks like its made out of sh*t, (brake hub, hairdryer, a big old metal pipe from an electrical box, and a poorly hand made frame out of random tree pieces) but it works and well, yours looks really slick and professional

it looks great! here's some info that wont actually affect your smithing much. its pronounced "twe-air" and by simple definition, its "a nozzle through which an air blast is delivered to a forge or blast furnace"

Great forge, really sweet! I'm in the middle of building one for myself, I'm using a brake drum. Since you have the air intake pipe on a 45° angle , doesn't any debris or clinkers drop into that air line by accident during the everyday working of the forge? Thanks for sharing, it's always great to hear and see ideas from others. 😎
@michaeldougfir9807
@michaeldougfir9807 7 жыл бұрын
Frank Daniels: Wranglerstar also had a brake drum for his first forge. If you go watch his forge acquisition and setup videos, you get a broad enough view that you can see what is possible. His is also on a stand. This is not to take away from the current video here. He has something to be proud of. But more information is always good.

Getting that 400 for $100 with legs is a steal! Nice! Great forge. Most have fire pot on the blower side. It’s a little easier to crank blower and hold/check your piece when it’s in the fire. Have you’ve been using it a lot?

what i think; the blower needs mounted so you can reach the steel stock in the fire pot and crank the blower. from the video, it looks difficult. like the size of the forge and fire pot. good job. the small holes at the tuyere plate will clog easily. you need a clinker breaker or wide slots if you retain the tuyere plate senario. you bought an entire 400 blower with stand for 100.00? !!!!!!???? You may know now why the air inlet to the tuyere is supposed to be at a 90°. All the many manufacturers knew what they were doing.
