Chief Brand sells the mixed whole grain masala, all you have to do is toast it and add saffron. About 35 years ago everyone was were using it. Until they introduced ground curry power.

Real Saffton is very expensive because is is the strands from a flower. It looks like Tumeric so I suppose that is why people call powered Tumeric by the name Saffron. If you went ot Spice markets in middle east you would not get saffron for tumeric. Sould have been......... Real Saffron..........
