Home Made Iguana Cage June 2014

This is a new cage for my iguana, I wanted to give her a bigger and better home because she's growing fast and I wanted to make her the perfect place to live. If you have any questions or comments I will try to answer as best as I can. Hope you like it!

Love the Habitat! Looked at most others on you tube and this one stood out above the rest. I will be building one soon for my juvenile IG, and plan on using your basic design and adding some of my own. I will be recording it also, so I can also post it here.

Just awesome! I am building my sons iguana a cage it's almost done. I got him a green iguana and it came yesterday it didn't want to eat anything yet and was probably stressed from the travel from Fl to Chicago. Over night. Can you give me a few pointers on what to try it's my sons first iguana and I really would love anyone's Input. Thanks so much

Where did you get the branches and plants?

The artificial plants are from the dollar store or Michael's craft store. The branches are from a forest close to my home. I saw in a pet store that they sell the branches but they are really expensive so you should just get it for free at a forest or park.

Amazing cage! Just curious, is that a permanent size home? Or as the iguana grows will it need something larger? Some iguanas get upwards to 5 ft long, will that be large enough to house an iguana of that proportion?

If you want to build your own, I suggest to go bigger, I made it this size for now but this will not be her permanent home.

Now that you had it awhile, how did the cemented/painted sides hold up with the moisture and heat? Did you ever had to modify or change anything after making this video? Like bulb wattage or basting platform distance from the lighting elements? Were you able to maintain adequate temperature and humidity levels?

I love your new cage 06/2014. I was wondering if you can help me please, I have a 3 YRS old male iguana and I'm looking to custom build his cage. Just have a very hard time deciding how or what to do. My iguana is a little more bigger than yours and I need help. I want the cage to be 6x6. Can you help, oh I do not know how to power tools but my mom will help. Please help.

I wish I could build it for you but I can't I can just suggest you use my videos as guides maybe have your mom watch them with you so she gets an idea of the basic design. I made my cage lights inside just like yours and was wondering how far down from the bulbs to the branch?also stole your idea of pond and will eventually install a drain.

From the top to the bottom is 24 inches. Each light is 100 watts, her basking spot is 95 degrees also the uvb light is 10 inches from the bulb to the branch where the iguana basks. If it's too far she won't get the calcium. It's not in the video but I installed a 42 inch fluorescent uvb

Just a quick question. This may have already been answered somewhere, but because you use the indoor/ outdoor carpeting, how do you clean her waste up.

Joe Battles Iguanas are very clean, she poops in the pool, if you don't have a pool you can use newspaper,they will usually go in the same place and you just have to make sure to keep it clean and change the paper often. I have read that iguanas like to poop in water and in my experience it's true and makes it easy for me to keep the cage clean.

how big of a cage do you need when they are full grown

You need the cage to be a minimum of 6 feet but if you have the space you should go as big as you can, the best would be a room enclosure, they need lots of space especially to climb.

About $400. The tempered glass was the most expensive at $150. I work building houses so I got the plywood free:) the mist king system, reptifogger, plants and fountains I bought second hand which helped cut costs alot.

I made the box with the doors first then I did 3 panels that go on top of that foundation. I also put wheels on the box so l could move it easily. I used screws so i could take it apart if i needed to. Hope that answers your question.

Sublime455 .Brand is Zoomed. I have 3 lights 100 Watt each, Reptisun 10.0 UVB light and a 150 Watt night light.

Are they all basking lights

Sublime455 The 3 100 lights are for the day,those are basking lights. The 10.0 UVB reptisun is the calcium for your iguana, your iguana really needs it. The nightlight is to keep the cage warm, not everyone needs it, I put it so I could see in the cage at night and if your home is not too cold you don't need it.

Mary Iguana is 1 year 3 months old. That's a good size for your cage, if I had space I'd go bigger too, good luck on your build, when you make yours you should record it, I like checking out new cages.
