How are you getting a clean blue flame out of waste oil? You should have some black smoke and reddish flames, that looks a lot like propame flames...
@dawlac_dojyo3 жыл бұрын
Any waste oil usually burns blue, but if the water mixed with the waste oil spatters or ash rolls up, it turns reddish, and depending on the type of waste oil, it burns green.
@Lucas-vk8fz3 жыл бұрын
I'd say its because no waste oil is being fed into it..its a drip fed system (gravity fed) and if you look at the line feeding it..it goes down and then has to make almost a 90°bend upwards into the bottom of the pipe..which if you know anything about gravity you'll know that without any pressure behind the oil..anything forcing the oil to move and counteract the forces of gravity..well it would fill the fill pipe back to the funnel...that's why I believe it's so clean...its a decent design and I dont know why a guy would fake it working when changing how its fed would be an easy fix but in my opinion that's what's really going on ..I could be wrong but I'm not

Is it about the can at the bottom? That is to remove the moisture contained in the oil. Since the specific gravity is lighter than water, it can be pulled out by attaching a valve at the bottom. Oil mixed with water is extremely dangerous so we sometimes open the valve and drain water.

@dawlac_dojyo5 жыл бұрын
I thought about heating by heat exchange, but I put safety first, so far, I have stayed in a simple structure. When I use vegetable waste oil, I feel a little hard to burn, but it burns as blue as motor oil. It reminds me of the old Wilson Wallfire boilers that had a cylindrical water jacket and the fuel and therefore the flame played against the inner wall of the boiler by way of dripping onto the centre of a spinning disk that had the fan blades below. The disk flings the fuel outwards and it’s ignited at the point it impinges on the boiler jacket wall.

@lazyfox6614 жыл бұрын
Water separator
@roberttill37874 жыл бұрын
@@lazyfox661 OK, sounds reasonable, but waste oil needs a certain refinement before putting in the heater fuel tank. A good thing to do to it before using it is filter it to get lumps out (carbon etc) that would block the pipes and let the water settle out before drawing it from the drum to use in the heater. All that tube will do is drain off settled water from whats been left in the tank between burns.
@dawlac_dojyo4 жыл бұрын
The wynn's can receives the water that collects at the bottom of the oil tank. Waste oil sometimes contains water and sludge, so drain it from the drain valve at the lowest point of the oil line from time to time. If the fuel oil contains water, the heat will increase rapidly and it is extremely dangerous, so it is recommended to install a drain.
@roberttill37874 жыл бұрын
@@dawlac_dojyo If the oil is left to settle for a week or so before tipping it into the Burner tank, there will be almost zero water in the oil, and so no need for a drain pipe.

I think these heater are the best, we tested them for 24 hours, and in that time we had no smoke at all, not even when turned off. Over feeding the fire with oil didn't change it, unlike a gravity fed heaters that turn into a nuclear reactor. No soot, and no ash build up in the bottom of the cylinder except the cardboard that it was lit with, now that the ash isn't there it can be burnt 24/7 for days or months. We notice diesel can smoke in normal waste oil heaters doesn't in these, just changes the colour of the flame more orange. Burns approx. 2.7 litres an hour so best connected to a 44 gallon drum but we could have turned it down, and used less. Noticed the cylinder got hot just by starting it with the meth's. Love it. Drip fed
@dawlac_dojyo3 жыл бұрын
Looks like it's working very well! The fact that nothing collects on the bottom of the pot is evidence that the bottom of the pot is kept at a high temperature. Thanks for your comment!This stove is different from the one made by others, it is very quiet, safe, has less fuel consumption, and can be adjusted to the optimum fire power that can also cook with the top cover.Of course it can also be enough to turn the combustion kiln into red.Please try by all means.

Если пламя становится красным, это может быть связано с недостатком воздуха или низкой скоростью.

hello, can i have more details ?? how many holes did you make in the bottom of the pipe and what diameter ?? what diameter are the rest of the holes and at what intervals in the order from bottom to top ??? Awesome project !!!!

There are two holes on the bottom, the sides are 40 mm apart from the bottom, and the diameter is 3.2 mm. This size and diameter may change depending on the type of oil, the size of the combustion kettle, the type of fan, etc., so for reference 😃

Blue flame means it has a very good burning temperature. Do you have any idea why is the flame blue? compared to other variants on youtube where the flame is yellow. Is it the air intake?
@dawlac_dojyo4 жыл бұрын
That is the most important point, I think that the speed at which air is mixed with the flammable gas from the oil boiled at the bottom of the combustion pot is important.
@titusm4 жыл бұрын
@@dawlac_dojyo do you have any "math" behind it? what should be the distance between air intakes from bottom - and what size holes?

Very nice job you have done. I have one question from a plumbers prospective......why is the supply tee for the fuel pointing down? The tee is allowing the fuel to be trapped in the supply line. Other than that...great job.
@dawlac_dojyo5 жыл бұрын
The downward direction of tee is for liquid sealing with supplied oil. If this is not liquid-sealed, it is dangerous for the combustion gas to flow back from here and ignite.

Hi Dawlac, the heater i built like yours has turned on me, smokes badly so i'll be removing it. What's the longest you have run yours for, as it looks like a demo heater only not one that operates day in day out. It worked fine for a few weeks now now it smokes I can't use it. I've used 89mm box steel what are you using it looks smaller than that. Anyone else had issues with it.
@dawlac_dojyo5 жыл бұрын
Both of the blower pipes of my heater are 50mm. It's best to put a flame on the inside of the burning pot, but I think it's better to use a slightly larger pipe like you. My heater is 10 years old this year. Although various improvements have been made to the control method, the combustion section basically uses the same mechanism.
@firemanjim90255 жыл бұрын
Another issue I found with it is as it's outside, if the lid isn't shut properly the rain gets into it. Which isn't good. Water and oil doesn't mix very well I've found, more than often explodes.
@dawlac_dojyo5 жыл бұрын
@@firemanjim9025You're right, it's very dangerous because the burning of even a little water gets stronger.The lid of my stove is a thick steel plate and almost the same size as a firewood so it won't distort with the heat of combustion. In addition, the inside is a positive pressure, so there is no blowout when cooking on the lid.
