Lower bobbing tension pressuer is a new technique from normal, just worked on my UK 760G Tension seems to come from the pressure from the bobbin retaining clip pressing down on the bobbin (that caught me out at first, I am used to very old machines). On my 760 machine someone has messed with it and broke the rivet that is meant to stop the adjustable tension screw from coming out, this is not a problem for me since I know what I am doing. The black hex head screw next to the user adjustable screw is the factory set tension screw, which someone had also messed with. Eventually I removed the bobbin case and inserted a plastic bobbin and dangled it like you do with a shuttle machine and reset the factory screw as best as I could. Thanks for the videos they do help. All the best

I inherited a 700 more than 20 years ago. Now I finally have time to learn how to use it 😜 It def needs oiling and cleaning after being in dormancy for so long. I won’t be able to bring it to a shop for tuneup simply because it is sooooo heavy. The one I have is a table model (common for old sewing machines). It will be a hassle to take it out. I found your videos on 700 series and they have been helpful. These are pretty old sewing machines. Owners manuals are of the old fashion; no DVDs or Trouble Shooting pages which I am accustomed to. Your step by step demonstration fills the gap. Thank you much 🙏

Some time in the '30s someone invented the "Oilite bearing". This looks like a normal sleeve bearing, but it's impregnated with oil when it's made. If it heats up from friction, the oil comes out and lubricates the bearing. Maybe that's why the 760 manual says you shouldn't have to lubricate it often. Wonderful presentation, all the playlist videos! Many thanks.

Nice video!!! This is really beneficial. These particular singers are solid -- rugged. Some maintenance like this is pretty much all they need.

Hello, great video series. Do you have a video where you show the belt replacement procedure for the 700 series? I am working with a 760. Or even a video of taking the hand wheel off on the 700. Thank you for your videos

Nevermind I found it! There is a screw on the inside of the maching casing on the side of the wheel.

I have a 774. It was really dry when I got it so I oiled and greased the gears, top and bottom. It sews really well. The stitch is nice and tight and looks great. Only one problem: the hand crank on the right side of machine (thing you use to raise and lower needle) bobs in and out when I sew, whether it's straight stitch or other stitch. And with the top off, I can see the main top shaft going back and forth as a "finger-like" arm is guided along the contours of the top cam. After all that: is it suppose to do that? Or is the cam thingy engaged and shouldn't be. Love your videos and I have learned a lot. I love these machines and hate to see them disappear because people don't know what's wrong with them. Thank you for getting this far in a long-winded comment.

I just left you a comment, two more things, it isn't picking up my bobbin thread and there is a piece missing, it is right below the body of the machine, in the manual I down loaded it says it's a thread cutter but the thread goes thru it right b4 a little spring lookin thing then into the needle. Do I need that piece for it to sew properly?

Very useful videos. Especially as I don't have the instructions booklet for my 726. I have a question regards the bobbin housing turning gear. Mine has just broken and I'm struggling to find the part name number for a replacement.

I have a singer 774 model. I took out the bobbin holder and oiled that area, I must have done something wrong because now my feeder dog is not working properly. I don’t know how to tighten or loosen it as videos I’ve watched for other sewing machines. Any help?

I have a singer model 714 that was given to me and the needle keeps hitting and dragging on one of the things that go around down in the machine. My boyfriend says he thinks the timing is off. Also I watched a video with a guy adjusting the needle positioned on a model 338, its different than mine of course but he says if you have it in position left all the way down and you turn the stitch width dial and the needle moves it needs adjusting, well mine moves a lot. Is it the same for my model as that one he was showing? Could you get back to me and let me know what you think. Thank you very much.

I have a zig zag 758 with the black rubber feed dogs. They suddenly stopped moving. How should they be moving? I think if I could see a video of them in motion without the throat plate that would help so I can tell what I need to tighten or loosen. Any advice?
@InStitches3 жыл бұрын
The feed dogs should rise when the needle rises then travel back (away from you) while the needle is out of the work and then drop down as the needle comes down. Then they will travel forward (toward you) when the needle is down. That's assuming there are no other issues with the feed mechanism.

Hi, love your videos, thanks for sharing your knowledge. I have one problem with my singer 726 (which i just recently got) as you seam the expert and i can not find any answer on my question. My machine (engine ) is working totally fine but i either have the feeling i have the wrong needle (schmety universal 130/705H) which is recomended or something else with the setting is not right as the needle comes too far down and slightly scratching the metal. Thanks a lot upfront, learned a lot in your videos today :-)
@InStitches4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your kind comments. Make sure the needle is right up in the needle hole. I am about to release a video today covering this. If that doesn't work, then either the needle bar is too low or the hook timing is out.

Hey thought my 784 which is almos identical to the first machine had a jam so your cleaning video realy helped but as it turns out a plastic gear in the bottom compartment broke... Any idea how to swap that, i thought i might super glue it, because spares for it might be hard to find but i dont know how I would get it back in place anyway, thanks for any help!

Why do these 700 series machine have a flat rubber feed dog with no teeth? I have the 401, 411G and a 412G the innards are bascially the same but with the two way push knobs on the front, the the chainstitch has a rachet in the throat plate to form the chainstitch, my new 412G is very rare!!
