IMO, this line of Singer machines never get the attention they deserve. Rock solid performance, reliable machines.

No toothed belts in the rotary hook drive to break, and probably steel gears, compare that to an early 1970’s Singer 413 that has belts & plastic, The gears were the death of Mother-in-laws machine until I fixed it.

my brother is a retired sewing machine mechanic and he told me to use baby oil to lubricate my sewing machine, he said its the same mineral oil but its cheaper

That is only to treat needle rash, for all else use sewing machine oil.

Though I don't know the reason, there is no capacitor in the 110v version(s) of that pedal.🤷♂ Yours is unmolested.
