Really appreciate the authenticity of this video. You're a dad, with a family and commitments. This was a worthwhile investment during trying times that will yield dividends for you.

Thanks. I never thought gyms would be closed here in LA for basically an entire year. Pretty glad that I've been able to climb this whole time, and get my kids into it as well.

Would be good to hear about what you think didn't work....specifically wondering if the supports on the side (and vert wall) are an impedance on some problems?
@AlanHauser4 жыл бұрын
They are, but less so than you might expect. The lower side supports only feel in the way on a few problems, but I've been able to send regardless, just have to adjust a little too avoid them. The upper supports I would say make me more cautious in moves to a18 and b18, and I've dabbed when not careful with my swing.

Hey Alan. After having your MoonBoard for close to a year now how are you liking it? Is it still fun? Do you still use it regularly? Do you wish you had build something different?
@AlanHauser3 жыл бұрын
Still using it - 1-2 times a week. I have expanded to also build a 8 x 10, 15 degree spray wall on the opposite wall of the garage. Happy to have both - I tend to warm up on the 15 degree wall and then try hard stuff on the moon board (got 2 more v7 benchmarks to go to tick all of them) . No regrets with the build - Gyms are opening back up in LA finally, but I've got no desires to restart my membership with how much fun I'm having in my garage.

i wish i was rich enough to own a home and a space big enough for a moonboard

Hey Alan I am looking to do this myself. Who/what did you use for your panels? your board looks really good and I am anxious to hear what you think your "mistakes" were. I have a garage that I could potentially make a moonboard fit in. I am also considering the 2019 set though I've never climbed on it. I for sure want that or the first set. I can't stand the version with the red holds. LMK any insights if you get the chance.

I have a follow up video with some more details. I used 3/4" baltic birch from a hardwood store. As for which set you can always get the wood holds later if the 2016 set isn't to your taste. I feel the theme of the 2019 is "skin friendly" as all the sharp crimps and small pockets aren't used from the 2016 set.

Hi would love to learn how you did the painting?

Would you recommend a full moonboard or is a mini moonboard good too?
@AlanHauser3 жыл бұрын
If you have the room I would definitely go with the full size over the mini. I set up and climbed my board with the first 2 panels only for a week as I was building the 3rd panel, and it felt like climbs were over in 2-3 moves.
