I want to thank everyone that has watched and commented on this video. On Christmas eve (2021) I spoke with my 92 yo father-in-law (the person who captured most of this movie) and he was so surprised and grateful for the attention and all the wonderful comments. You all made an old man very happy. Bless you all.

How lovely. I live in the UK, but can relate to those scenes. I was 24 years of age, married with a 6 week old baby girl who is now coming up for 48 years old! Those types of Christmases were precious, simple and full of love, laughter and family cohesion. We enjoyed the simple things, no cell-phones or technology that has in my opinion, caused the family life to become estranged. Many of those people will probably have passed away, so it is wonderful to catch a glimpse of happier times. Thank you for reminding us of those days when life was less complicated.

Thank you for sharing. The 70s and 80s were a wonderful time for me and my family. The majority of my family were alive and healthy. They are all gone now. I have many still photos of those precious times, but no movies. One of my biggest regrets in life is that I did not acquire a 8mm camera and record those beautiful times. Hopefully some day I will be able to see them all again and enjoy their love first hand. Thanks again. Subscribed.

And the really shitty part is time goes faster the older you get, what I’d give for those days I sat around as a kid complaining being bored. Not a worry in the world, that’s what I miss most. As kids we want to grow up, as adults we just want to go back, ya just can’t win.

@@deborahchesser7375 So true, I can remember as a child always asking my mother "What will I do now?". Now approaching 50, time seems to go by far too quickly. The excitement of Christmas morning as a child in the 70s was fantastic, entering the living room early in the morning to see what Santa had brought. Lego hopefully lol.

I was 9 years old in 1974. 1974 was a sad/weird Christmas for our family. My grandmother lived with her two older sisters, and the 3 of them lived an 8-hour drive from us. We usually drove down to visit them for Christmas. That year one of my great-aunts had a heart attack a few days before we arrived and was in intensive care. We all went to visit her in the hospital and were told it was probably the last time we would see her. She had wrapped all the Christmas presents just before having her heart attack, so it was really weird unwrapping the Christmas presents. Eventually she recovered enough to return home, but died about 6 months later of another heart attack. She had also knitted me a sweater. It was too big for me, but when I was 11 and 12 years old it was a favorite sweater and I would think of her whenever I put it on. It always seemed weird putting on a sweater that someone had spent so much time knitting, and who was now dead. She's the first family remember I remember dying.

I can relate to everything from this video. The clothing, the instant camera with square flashbulbs, the decor, hairstyles, eating elbow to elbow during the feast, the wood paneling, and of course, being with family...all shot on Super 8. Best part, not a cell phone in sight, lol.

Interesting time capsule! Family gatherings. I was 17 in 1974. An early ‘70s hippie. Unfortunately for me, 1973, ‘74 and ‘75 were the worst three years of my life. But thankfully, God was merciful to me and had His plan for my life already mapped out. Looking back, I am thankful to God for all of my life, the good and the bad. Love your mom and thank her for raising you. Tell her, often, how much she means to you! One day she will no longer be here.
