The feeling of being a kid in the stadium with my dad when the lights went out and i saw those red headlights and heard this beast for the first time brings a tear to my eyes as an adult today.

A classic monster truck! I was always more partial to el toro and scooby, but grave digger is always the more familiar name and a pleasure to watch in real life!

Fun facts. He recently pulled the o.g. out of the grave 6 years ago and restored then sat it right there. Also he never once used a ford motor. Always put chevy motors in all his trucks. I grew up racing, my dad was a master body tech. I've sat in 3 different grave diggers. Dennis is a really good guy. Even let me give her the beans once. Was sitting there told me to flip a few switch and turn it on to get it ready to move. Told me slam the gas a few times and rev it up. My little 8 year old boy parts were tingling 🤣 I loved them days. He even has a grave digger you stand up in not sit. It's crazy!

So awesome!! Great experiences, and he seems like a cool dude. Thanks for sharing that info... I can only imagine what that must have been like.

As a young kid. I was flipping out. So many noises and so much going on. I gotta meet bounty hunter once to. I was maybe 4-5 lol. Monster trucks aren't like they used to be that's for sure. Also one more fun fact. The first grace digger axles came from a army m110 truck. And the tires came off a old tracker. They later started using tractor axles as they had high hauling. They no have there one axles and tires. But they were old timers, they did what they could.

I grew up building cars not so much trucks. But I'm building a ram 50 with a 5.7l hemi turbo. Looking for 44's now and waiting on new gearing in the mail,for my new axles. I got a set of tracker tires. But they are way to big for my pocket lol.

Ha ha I’ve been there too. Nick I’m English. But I’ve spent a lot of time up and down the east coast. Also on the way back from the outer banks on the way up to Richmond we accidentally came past this place and I was like ha dude check it out. So we went straight in there and had a good look round. It was the most random thing I’ve ever seen on the side of the road to go past his place. And if memory serves there is a place nearby called the great dismal swamp?
@NickP2 жыл бұрын
Lollll I found it in the same way. First passed it driving down to the Rodanthe and Waves. I said I’m def stopping there on the way back. I was never a huge fan of monster trucking, but I was a fan. Funny thing, Grave Digger was my favorite. I believe the great dismal swamp is nearby.

Loved monster trucks growing up but preferred when they were actual trucks rather than roll cages with plastic bodies.

Agreed.. I wasn't the biggest fan but I enjoyed watching the events on TV... They were fun back in the 80s!
@waynenorbreyjr93714 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but they had to evolve especially when it comes to safety. The older trucks were brutal on the drivers.

Bob Chandler's original Bigfoot truck is set to go into the Smithsonian while the original Grave Digger truck is sitting in the backyard of the shop rusting away. There's just something very wrong with that. *Preserve the truck for future generations.* There's only one original and when it Rust away there will never be another. *They're only original once!*
