oakcliff and lot of the "hood" areas within each city have really gotten gentrified over the years, I think when it comes to moving to those types of area the biggest factor to take into consideration outside of crime are food desserts, areas in west dallas near westmoreland don't have any grocery stores most people rely on dollar general and corner stores for food. You'll experience far less break ins than years ago but still is a place you dont want to walk around at night. If you can handle a rougher neighborhood with bars on the window some communities are nicer than others.
