I was watching a friend play this and we were aware of the Mouse King going incognito, but I tend to overthink stuff. I thought it was perhaps The Saint since it also travels around in a coat(as seen in it's snapshot), and the 'note' it has was maybe like a list of people to visit since the Saint is essentially a false Santa Claus, and is even followed by The Sinner who is essentially Krampus. Of course the cat growling should've been the nail in the coffin but we took the coin flip on that one. Also, the Ogress and Yulecat failed calls...my goodness are those ones brutal. Poor Dorothy too, losing her doggo like that.

I suspect Janet was likely just frightened of mice and panicked. The avalanche victims are fifty-fifty for me, though I think Kim is more likely the one who died as he was screaming and wasting his oxygen. Red Nose is actually harmless so Sam would be absolutely fine, he'd just have a Rudolph nose, and I'm unsure if Animations can harm humans or not so Georgia was likely just panicking like Janet. Good list though!

All Christmas references that I noticed in this game: Time Wisps - Reference to the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, or Yet to Come from A Christmas Carol. Red Nose - Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer The Locomotive - The Polar Express The Saint - Santa Claus The Gift Hag - Mrs. Claus The Sinner - Krampus Antler Growths - Reindeers Elves - Although not a direct reference to Santa’s elves, it’s still worth mentioning this. Winter Fur - The Abominable Snowman I know I missed some so if anyone else noticed any references to holiday stories and/or movies, feel free to put it in the comments. Edit: The Saint is actually based off of Sinterklaas, an iteration of Santa Claus, according to a commenter below. Read their comment for more information regarding them.

The mare is in reference to Mari Lwyd, which is an old South Wales tradition in which Carolees would walk around the neighborhood singing loudly with a white clothed horse skull on a stick. They would stop in front of homes and sing songs and if they succeeded in making the homeowners happy they would be invited inside for a feast! Just a wacky tradition that they spun into this odd cryptid

I don't think the Gift Hag is inherently Ms. Claus, at least not as similar as the Saint is to Santa (yes I know he's not based on modern Western depictions, but they all still share a root inspiration that is fairly recognizable) I think the Gift Hag might be more similar to La Befana from (I believe?) French folklore. She essentially does the same *thing* as Santa, but appears much more like a witch, sometimes even depicted with a flying broomstick. So she's essentially a Santa Witch - still a very benevolent figure, just with a different backstory Edit: OH, and the Yule Cat, Yulemen, and Ogress are all mythical Christmas characters too, from Iceland. The ogress, Gryla, roams around and asks parents to give her naughty children to eat. She has 13 sons, the Yule Lads (Yulemen, notice how they "travel in packs of 13") who each take turns visiting children's homes on the 13 days leading up to Christmas, and I think each one plays pranks? And then the Yule Cat is their pet, who eats children it catches who haven't received any new clothes for Christmas (an incentive to have new winter clothes. Dark, but so was the rest lol) So ironically, the Yule Cat in Icelandic mythology eats kids who DONT have new clothes, while in HSH it eats people wearing clothes lol

i think the security packages not working might just be a running gag in the game? because there's a few calls in the dlc that mention how bad they are, and i remember also in the base game there was a call that was someone complaining how the alarm they bought didn't go off (though that one was due to the threat already being inside as opposed to breaking in).

it's interesting to think that the mare isn't really a threat to modern day households, due to us having stores that we can just go buy food from. however in ye olden times, if the mare came to your house during winter and you let it in, it could be potentially fatal as getting food during those times would be much harder during the harsh months.
