HOME Style Lunch For CENTRAL VIETNAM | This Is For The Country That Has Given Me Everything

A very special episode. This one is for my Vietnamese family. There are so many people hurting in central Vietnam so I hope we can work together to give back to people in need.
For an episode that is about family then of course I had to take you to a place that feels like home to me. This com binh dan spot is something very special. A couple that has been working together for over 26 years and are still putting everything they have into making fantastic food every single day of the week. Teaching me so much and showing me everything this couple is so special, even more so than the amazing array of foods they make. If in Da Lat make sure to show them some love and eat some good food.
Of course we got something sweet, and it just so happened to be from someone even sweeter. This lady sells only 4 types of che every day and I just so happened to get the last of one of my favorites, the Khoai mon. Her spot is a little hidden but she is worth stopping by in the middle of the day.
I wouldn’t be anything without the MyKindOfEats family so it is time for me to help the people who have given me so many opportunities.

All the dishes you ate look so crazily yummy, my stomach can't help demanding a same full-course family meal just like yours for my lunch today. I'm also amazed by your thoughtful research about each dish, like names of the veggies and proper ways of how to mix everything together to have a great taste in your mouth that also cherish the soul of Vietnamese cuisine culture. There is a reason people have commented on your channel non-stop that you are truly a Vietnamese at heart. Many foreigners come and eat our food and review them on their channel but not that everyone is so dedicated to find various types of Vietnamese signature foods besides Pho and the basic Banh Mi like you. You are truly one of a kind. And the way you eat fish sauce and "mam nem" as if the weird smell (according to general foreigners' reaction) doesn't bother you, at all. Man, I find myself surprised no matter how many times I have watched you do that. As a Vietnamese, though I love "man nem", sometimes even I try to avoid them in my meal because it leaves you with a heavy and kind of... fishy smell in your mouth, not convenient so much right? After the meal, it's most likely that you have to brush your mouth with a toothpaste (especially if you have to get back to work in the office later). And it clearly looks like you eat them because you want to eat them, from the bottom of your heart, with your warm smile showing up almost every time you do that. Not because you wanna try some exotic foods to see what it's like (kinda like tipping your toe to test the water, then bale the hell out of there as fast as possible. I understand why some foreigners react that way to our foods though, different cultures somehow always find their way to play a part). You don't do it in a way that is completely for putting on a show, I guess. Your sincerity and openness to other cultures jumping out of the screen truly make you stand-out. That's why it is more heartwarming than ever to see a person like you who truly enjoy our foods as if, well, you used to be a Vietnamese in your past life. I can't find a proper explanation for this tbh (；≧∇≦) =3

Từ đó giúp người xem khơi gợi sự tò mò, liên quan đến ăn uống thì gần như ai ai cũng thích thú rồi.. Bảo sao người nước ngoài họ thích món Việt, căn bản không quá khó chịu như kiểu Ấn, Thái. I have spent a good part of my childhood and college years in Dalat, so it's a city with so many tender memories. At the time, the 1960' s era, Dalat life was far too simple to have the kind of foods that you are experiencing, but "thịt Kho trứng và dưa giá" was definitely there as it is always the stable menu in Việt Nam. Dalat was not renowned as a food city but as a romantic city because of its environment of fogs, cool air, the scent of pines ( no longer exist because of the destruction of the pine forest), mountains, falls, beautiful landscape, and cafe. Dalat was also the start-up place of many legendary singers like Khanh Ly, Lệ Thu, Thanh Tuyền, Lê Uyên Phương, etc ...I have certainly left my heart in Dalat a long time ago.

As a Vietnamese who lived in Vietnam for 19 years and now living in the U.S, I realized how much I appreciate the days I had the food and the people who cooked for me there, restaurants, street vendors, I feel like the dishes are pretty complicated to cook and well prepared, lots of effort but they are so cheap compared to the food here especially Vietnamese dishes.

Not the most expensive dishes in the world, not fussy food like Japan, not as much cooking oil as China, it's simply very close dishes to us, balanced dishes In terms of taste, really rich but the price is extremely cheap.
