Thanks Michael! It's been a long process (as you know haha), but I finally feel like I've reached the "endgame" setup for this room. But that mindset could change within the hour. You never know lol.
@jefffan171Ай бұрын
These new speakers seem to balance themselves far more perfectly into the room. Your old speakers always seemed to large in the setup and with the 4 SVS subs, having dedicated theatre style satellites in the M&K/THX tradition seems far better suited. Between the new speakers and the new racks for the gear this room makes me want to just jump through screen and hear it. Looks far better and done on a budget, nice work Brad! 👍

Thank you so much! The difference has been pretty drastic. I agree on the Pioneers I had (and still do, just in another room now haha). Wall-mounting the side and back surrounds really opened up the room as well. Everything just kind of came together once I had the idea, which... well doesn't always happen as you know. lol

I love it!! But you know that. 😂 it's wild that this is the same room with white walls, a large window and gramma-looking curtains. That broll of the room before you did anything to it is bananas. I really like these new changes and it's been great being able to watch movies and even play some games in there. I don't want to go to the movies because what you've created looks and sounds so much better. Plus the snacks are cheaper and pants are optional. Hahahaha

I think it turned out great. It has cleaner/sleeker look. Good job. I had the same dilemma for my huge center channel, so I built my own stand so everything would fit. I was looking at 2 stands for each side like you, but I couldn't find a speaker stand the right height for my center channel.

Thank you! It feels almost like a different room than what I started with!

There are different rebranding of that open-air AV stand. Other brands offer a 5 tier option, which I'm using to hold my Revel C426be center channel speaker, 61lbs. Works perfect.
@sage11xАй бұрын
I know you said you want to see your stuff but… the best way to add space is to remove the gear. For me this was a no brainer as I have a small room with a projector, 120” screen. Roughly the same size space- a bit over 11 ft wide and around 13 ft deep although my space does partially open up to another space in the back. I have all my gear on an ikea cabinet in that space behind me. IR blaster. Single fiber hdmi running from my Denon to the projector. And of course speaker wire running in to power all my speakers. I absolutely LOVE not having anything up front. I have those same Pioneer speakers you started with and the entire space is black top to bottom. Amazing space to get lost in a movie.
@trishpipkinsАй бұрын
If you've got the space that's great. We don't in the current house we're in.

I just got an RSL 12S and some CM23G speakers for new heights. Aaaand then I'm now going to replace the media console with two smaller tables to flank that giant subwoofer and let me move my mains in a little. Then I could use some more absorption/diffraction on the back wall....😂

Setup def looks a lot nicer, good job! My question would be, in such a small room and with the speakers so close to the MPL, do you really need an external amp? and do you really need so many big subs? maybe you do I am just wondering. thanks
@HomeTheaterGamerАй бұрын
Those are great questions. I wasn’t sure a separate amp would even make a difference and I had never experienced having one in my own home theater as my receivers prior to the Denon X6300H didn’t have pre-outs. When I hooked it up initially, I used my Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers for a few weeks prior to the arrival of the Theatrus speakers. It was honestly like I got new speakers. I’m not even kidding. The improvements in dynamics even at lower volumes was noticeable. Things also opened up the louder I brought the volume up. I have read that the Pioneer speakers do benefit from more power, and I can attest to that now. As for the subs, having four in this small room is probably overkill, but it also gives me a ton of headroom for EQ mainly. I don’t really like “goosed up bass” (a term I learned from Gene DellaSalla from Audioholics haha). The bass experience post calibration though can be very tactile depending on the movie, and having done tests back and forth with two versus four subs, that tactility is just missing with the two PB4000s.
@constantinoskatodrytis542Ай бұрын
@ great, many thanks for the insight! I have been conteplating about an external amp my self and appreciate the feedback!
@usmankhalid990Ай бұрын
Awesome changes to the theater, the new speakers look sweet! Quick question about the upcoming tutorials, I want to dive into the mini-dsp but i have dirac live on my receiver. Am i able to still use dirac with mini dsp or is the mini dsp a substitute for dirac live? Thanks for helping me out!
@HomeTheaterGamerАй бұрын
Thanks and great question! You can definitely use Dirac Live on top of using the minDSP, you just have to be mindful of the EQ curve on both the miniDSP and Dirac Live. You essentially want them to match. For example, I actually use both the miniDSP to do the heavy, heavy EQ lifting and then will use Audyssey MultEQ-X on top of that to do the final small refinements here or there.
@usmankhalid990Ай бұрын
@ that is awesome to hear, can’t wait to give it a shot and looking forward to more of the eyes and ears podcast!

The right and left speakers have the mid and tweeter on the left side of the front baffle. Does it really matter? Or can we rotate just one speaker in a way that one have them to the right and the other to the left.
@HomeTheaterGamerАй бұрын
You can just turn the speakers so the tweeter and midrange fall on the left, right or top side. Then you can just turn the little logo whatever direction makes sense.

@90sNintendoKidАй бұрын
Won't the center channel sound better if it's moved forward so the front of the speaker is inline with the AV stands? Looks a bit recessed to me.
@HomeTheaterGamerАй бұрын
Potentially, but the stand would protrude out into the room which is something I didn't want. It might be difficult to see in the video, but the floor stand that the TV is mounted on has a slanted part on the front lip, so it's not a flat surface there, which means I would have to put the center channel in front of it. So it's a bit of a compromise and it is recessed by about 3 inches.
@mainsource8030Ай бұрын
now you just need a mini dsp hd for each speaker,lol, jk looks great!
@wrthomas69Ай бұрын
Did you keep the Aperion speakers? If so, did you have to pay for them or were they simply a gift for a review? The room is looking great by the way. I love these reviews that tend to be more on the budget side where people are simply not throwing money at a problem. If you did keep the new speakers, what did you do with the old ones? Put them in a second room, sell them, gift them? When are you going to be on the complete waste of time podcast again?

How do afford this hobby?
@HomeTheaterGamerАй бұрын
I've been in this hobby over 20 years, and a lot of the things I've purchased have been on sale of bought used (my Denon X6300H was purchased from a friend for $500, a far cry from what it cost new in 2016 which was about $2,000). I've always been a proponent of "make the most out of what you have," so I spend a lot of time tweaking and calibrating to get the most out of the stuff I currently have. Being a content creator here on KZbin has advantages, but I never hide the fact when a company sends me something, as I mention in this video that Aperion Audio provided the amplifier and all speakers to me, so I didn't pay for those. I love the system I have in its current form, but it's a long way from when I first started this hobby.
