I can understand why you wanted that display unit as it is really nice and really 'makes' your room. I think your room needed something like that, as like you say, you don't have windowcills or anything to display some cozy, pretty items. Plus your decor looks lovely on there. I think it was a good decision to buy it. You have displayed lovely items on there too - very pretty and elegant.

I didn't want to tease people when I said it was the room that lead to my over spend, so I thought it was right to show it first. Thank you. x

Your room is lovely Tanya. As I have said before, I LOVE your chair. Yes you got into financial strife and you are now remedying that but your have some lovely pieces that will last a long time. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you. In my head I've paid for the Cotswold Furniture bar £215. And 2 Civil Service payments banked. It took me almost a whole morning in the shop to decide on the patterned chair and footstool but when it was delivered I knew it was right for me. Thank you. x

That all looks delightful, Tanya! You have good taste and an eye for a bargain - but everything looks like good quality. Love the tip on how to use bleach to lighten the chair by a shade.

I'm constantly looking for tips and tricks to make my life easier. Trying it on the leg of the chair and seeing how well the bleach hack worked was brilliant. Thank you. x

Of course there is cheaper furniture available but I wondered about the longevity of it. Its lovely to see the sun but yes it can cause so much damage. x

You have a beautiful home Tanya. Please, what is the "cardboard hack" you used on the curtains?
@LivingonaUKStatePension
@LivingonaUKStatePension 3 сағат бұрын
Get a strip of cardboard three inches wide by 11". Join the ends together securely with sellotape or staples forming a ring shape. Sometimes you have to soften the cardboard with your fingers but It doesn't have to be a perfect circle, just as long as it slides along the pole easily. Place the rings in each fold as you thread the curtain onto the track. The carboard rings stop the curtains bunching up and make them look so much better. Thank you for the comment, its appreciated. x

Love the Living room. Im currently trying to declutter paperwork, what do you do with your paperwork etc? Suz
@LivingonaUKStatePension
@LivingonaUKStatePension 4 сағат бұрын
I used to have a shredder but they break so easily. I currently cut of the portion of the paperwork with the sensitive information and rip up the rest of it. The sensitive bit I either use a permanent marker to conceal the information and or cut into small pieces, while I watch tv. My lounge has given me pleasure and I believe it will last. Thank you. x
