Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experience. I agree with you, we must keep cash in society. I have experienced the odd times my bank has had internet problems, (so no online banking). I was so pleased to have cash in my purse for food and fuel. Plus cash is a great way for parents to teach children about spending and saving. Glad I found your channel, I’m looking forward to watching your other videos. All the best with your saving and KZbin channel.

Cash is very important. If you haven't got it in your purse you can't spend it. Watching you cash dwindle makes you adjust your spending!x

Love your budgeting- I have done the envelope system for years- it’s a great way to save and see where the money goes. Can you please think about doing gardening videos when growing season comes? You’re a brilliant teacher.

I'll definitely be doing gardening videos. I'm no expert but I manage to produce tomatoes, green beans, lettuce, cucumber, lettuce, beetroot and peppers. I also have raspberries. Thanks for joining me. X

Greetings from North bay. Again!. Yes I am binge watching.!! Growing up in Brum ,we lived with grandparents and auntie. They were paid weekly and cash was indeed king, and they were scrupulously careful. I got out of the habit for many years when we came to Canada, but have been back on cash for groceries and misc. items for about 25 years now. It is way too easy to spend using a debit card. Your ideas and suggestions are a lovely refresher to stay on track. Thank you so much for your videos. I hope you do more cooking ones and please, don't stop once you have reached your years experimental goal.

Hello again. Cash is important, when you haven't got it you can't spend it. Tapping cards is far to easy to lose track of your expenditure. x

One tip I have for buying food is to check the price per 100g, Sometimes an item is on sale but the saving may not be what you think if you check the price per gram from a different brand, eg: soy sauce from the brand name is a lot more expensive than a international brand, you are paying for the name and advertising or packaging. Buying a liter bottle is cheaper than the 300g bottle, I just put some in my own bottle and store the larger one under the bed. I shop on line and have the groceries delivered as I don't own a car, so I can check the price per 100g on the items that come up on the page. I also don't impulse buy because I'm not wandering the aisles looking for items and see something I don't need, it helps me because they give me my most purchased items in a section so I can not forget what I may need to buy every week, so it's kind of a list. Here in Canada we have a store that gives you points which you can redeem for purchases and I can get one weeks food for free when I use them. By not owning a car and paying for gas, insurance, tires and maintenance I have saved more than enough to get a taxi if needed, I'm retired so can take the bus or walk. It helps to have the heavier items delivered.

@dawnmorandin541 thank you for that advice, really appreciated. Most supermarkets do advertise the size comparisons now, and it certainly makes interesting reading. What really annoys me is shrink-inflation. Manufacturers keep the same size box, jar ir bottle and put less in if and charge you the same price as before.....hoping you won't notice! X

Loving your tips. Do you include money for toiletries/laundry products etc in with your food bills?
@LivingonaUKStatePension2 сағат бұрын
Thank you, yes I do. I've ve simplified my cleaning and laundry products dramatically. I'm constantly looking for offers on toiletries and buy bigger bottles of shampoo, conditioner etc. Thanks for commenting x
