Whether they chose custom built wardrobes, or self build wardrobes to fit, I think they would be best with sliding doors - especially Tom's side of the bed.

Definitely agree the IKEA ones don’t look right. Maybe the 35cm depth ones or fitted as others have suggested. We have pax but built them up on timbers ans skirted around them and coved around top, also put mdf on sides and colour matched doors so looks built in, another option I guess x

Hi, Freya, master wardrobe suggestion - how bout custom fitted ones to be flush with the chimney breast, and finished with trim and colour matched to the panelling, then the whole breast wall would look very streamlined with wardrobes not being too noticeable. Eileen 🤗

I had the same problem with alcove wardrobes in my Victorian terrace. You need to get the shallow wardrobes from ikea so they don’t stick out of the alcove so far. You then hang your clothes front to back rather than left to right.
