Fen Bogarty The problem was it simply wasn't worth casting with what the other decks had. He should have just discarded it. It does has a function in the deck, but it's mostly against decks that rely heavily on targeted removal. Things like Mardu get hosed. With the protection ability you can wait until they are low on white or other things (blow up their lands etc). It for sure has a big down side since Prof is relying on those effects but I wouldn't say it is "useless". A "useless" card would be healing salve 😂

Watching this over 2 years later... I miss the banter. Josh, Jimmy and crew have gotten miles ahead of this in terms of production, but I feel like it lost a little something on the way. This sounds like one of the games around my table, just hanging with friends, casual, like the format should be. The cutaways where we hear the other players laugh are awesome.... I don't know, maybe it's just nostalgia, but I would definitely sacrifice some of the new beautiful production for a little more of this casual, whimsical feeling.
@lasterman941003 жыл бұрын
It's definitely the nostalgia syndrom, it happens to me a lot for shows I followed for years, but then I realize it's baseless criticism because the quality of animations, the dynamism and the overall understanding of the game for newer players are through the roof now, and I cannot complain, and if you really feel that it is too much, even though I think you're then a bit ungrateful, there is still extra turns, and I know there are a lot of people complaining about the new format of game knights but weirdly enough, extra turns are yet getting way less views when it's truely the purest form of friend commander with no glitters what so ever
@lasterman941003 жыл бұрын
@@alexrecuenco Yeah, you're not 7, so stop wining about production value like an old entitled child, if you feel that animations and fluidity are ment to infantilize you, you probably have an ego problem, like a lot of mtg players these days apparently...

Not targeting Athreos before anything else was a huge mistake. Wedge could've cast Return to Dust targeting both the Dictate and Athreos.
@DarkEinherjar6 жыл бұрын
Thing is, Josh was drawing a lot of lands (the total opposite of Jimmy), and would've had enough mana to recast Athreos because it only costs 3 plus taxes. Using Return to dust on Athreos would only delay Josh for one turn, at best. Also, I think Wedge wanted the card draws, because he was low on mana and losing cards in hand because of Jimmy.
@blakey98695 жыл бұрын
@@DarkEinherjar it adds up though, swords to plowshares and return to dust would make it hard to do much, and if you exile athreos in response to the shadowborn apostle sacs it gets a bit tough for the deck to function
@DarkEinherjar5 жыл бұрын
If you exile Athreos in response to the Shadowborn Apostle's activation, Athreos will have already triggered for them. Again, that's just a small delay because of the amount of mana Josh had.

He did have like 6 mana and plenty of cards in hand to play. The issue is rather that his deck wants to cast so many high cmc spells in one turn and it only runs like 5 mana rocks.
@ImaginationHobbies6 жыл бұрын
if jimmy cant do stuff with 6 mana and 7 cards he should rebuild that deck
@hughmann84586 жыл бұрын
Well, it also depends how much of each mana he has, what cards are useful, if he had unlucky draws, etc.
@willemboele20796 жыл бұрын
@darknessoverlord if he wasn't drawing lands he would have a hand with all gas, if he had mana rocks he would have cast them. if he had board wipe he would have cast it. if he had creatures he would have cast them etc. i think this game was just staged or something there is no way he had nothing to do with 6 mana and 7 cards in hand WHILE complaining about not having enough mana
@DarkEinherjar6 жыл бұрын
He only had Mutavault, Urborg and Ancient Tomb, along with Rakdos Signet. I'm not sure how his list was at the time of this episode (he changed the deck since then; there's no Revel in Riches there anymore, for example), but I can imagine him being stuck with a hand full of cards that cost two or more red mana, and thus being unable to cast them.
@tendouji89966 жыл бұрын
If only he had rakdos charm at the end
@DarkEinherjar6 жыл бұрын
If Jimmy had Rakdos Charm in the first place, he would've used it in response to the Athreos triggers when Josh searched for his first demon. By the end of the game, if Jimmy used it, Josh could've simply killed him in response, "countering" the Rakdos Charm in the process.
