My personal top picks: Former Dawn: 0:09 (seriously, there's times you could convince me this is a Genesis game) CrossPaint: 6:32 (just looks like a really cool idea) Herakles 32: 7:07 (Jeff Minter would be proud) Chantey: 11:04 (some really lovely pixel art there on Game Boy) Frontier Force: 15:36 (very nicely polished on Master System) Malasombra: 17:28 (seriously, there's times you could convince me this is a Genesis game) Elevated Speed: 19:41 (very cool on Virtual Boy, and really wanna see the stereoscopic 3D) Chords: 22:23 (a very nice looking story adventure type game) 8Bit Brix Design Studio: 29:01 (just looks like a really cool idea) Phantom Gear: 32:50 (proper commercial release quality, and it shows) So, yeah, loads of great games in the showcase, but those are my favs.

Is there a count for how many games on each system? Edit: Just did a very quick filtered scan of the spreadsheet you linked, and it looks like the Game Boy in all its incarnations has the most new projects by some distance, with NES second and a big amount there too, then the Genesis with a very solid third place showing, Master System forth, SNES fifth, and the rest maybe one or two titles each. A great selection all in all. Although, I definitely hope to see many more new indie/homebrew SNES titles in the future to more accurately reflect its relative popularity compared to all the other systems on that list, at least going by sales of the consoles both originally and even today with the Mini versions and such. Great stuff overall, and a lot of very compelling and exciting titles there to look forward to.

Hey btw im a total noob when it comes to this but I just Downloaded SGDK and I plan to learn C language and come back to sgdk a little more prepared sooner or later when I have the time but i have some game ideas I’d like to share I have made some notes on at least one of the projects Mega WW2 (Project title for now) A 2D side scroller Shooter for sega genesis/mega drive that plays like games like contra or Metal Slug, based around WW2 campaigns throughout the 1940s, at its simplest form it’s a shooter with a level to level structure that so far would only have 6 levels, but here are some ideas I thought of for this game that would set this apart from other shooters - A class system: each character/soldier has a unique loadout, assault, heavy, maybe a medic or even recon/sniper, maybe a heavy has bombs - Destructible Environments: certain objects can be destroyed, maybe buildings or vehicles or towers etc - A slide mechanic like contra hard corps - a reward/leveling system: like xenocrisis, before you start every level, you can upgrade certain things, well in this, you can upgrade everything from health to buy new weapons to start off with Pretty much I don’t want to go completely nuts on this like i just did but I have a whole notebook written of ideas going back to 2018 for this game plus an old west idea my brother and I went nuts about writing stuff for too If anybody likes this idea, please feel free to do whatever you want with it, i do plan to learn how to use sgdk, but I’m not gonna have the dedicated time always

Some suggestions for a future showcase: 1. A non-stop 34 minute Montage is kinda hard to follow and doesn’t really tell you much about each game. Some games are fairly self-explanatory (like for example, Pandora’s Blocks being Tetris) but others could really benefit from just a tiny bit of voice over or even a text box on screen describing a snippet of said game. 2. Maybe divide it up into sections next time, preferably by genre? Honestly I wouldn’t mind it being double the length (60 minutes) but giving each game more time to breath and giving more info instead of just such an information overload that you can’t even remember half of what was shown by the end.

My only request for the next time you do this is to group them into classifications of their proper system platform. Put all NES games in one section. Then All Genesis games in one section. Then All Game Boy games in one section. this way I know what system or platform the games I'm watching are for. You do mention the name and platform, but you don't have that as a static screen for the whole clip, you only show this very briefly.

Several games here that I have been waiting for. Not least of which is Super Sunny World, which is literally the video game that I am most looking forward to of any video game coming out either triple A, indie, NES homebrew, or otherwise. I'm scared that you, Matt, will announce pre-orders for Super Sunny World, and that I will somehow miss it. Wish I knew when to expect such an announcement, but, I don't want you to feel rushed. Take your time, and do it right. And most importantly, have fun while creating it.
