I have 2 xpr 5350e and trying to set up as a repeater. I have the ra-2t adapter. I am having a bear of a time programming the code plugs for each.

Did you get programming fixed?

Is it possible to make this a DMR repeater since those being DMR radios?
@chamian1167 Жыл бұрын
Yes and No. Most DMR radios using repeater operation in Digital will not work with the "analog home brew repeater" method (Pumping audio from RX to TX). This is because, the subscriber radio will send a pulse command to check if the repeater is in range prior to transmitting on the repeater. One issue with that is, no mobile/handheld radios can decode the incoming pulse message and will not send a ack command. When no Ack command is rx on subscriber radio, the radio thinks it's out of range of the repeater. Some cheap dmr radios would just transmit in simplex mode (meaning no pulse command or ack command is required).

Could you make something like this for the xpr4550 and xtl5000

Is there any update on how this repeater is working?
@rash04012 жыл бұрын
The repeater never went into a site as a repeater HOWEVER a SIMILAR configuration (program) was used with the controller to have it function as a crossband repeat (I swapped out a UHF XPR4550 with a VHF CPR 4350) and use it intermittently to cross band into 146.520

I wish DMR repeaters were this easy. Pyramid is the only off brand I know of.

very true. seems like Fusion (or analog) has been the most used in our area (central-ish Minnesota)

What type of controller did you use? Can you live a link in the description of the company selling the controller.

I have two 4500's. Where did you get programming software
@rash0401 Жыл бұрын
The software was a eBay find a number of years ago . I’ll have to see if I can cross reference the cps

what radio did you use to key-up the repeater?
@rash04012 жыл бұрын
In this example i was using a Yaesu FT-70 as the repeater was set up in ANALOG ( Not DMR)

Disclaimer: This setup will not work for commercial radios (e.g transmitting on an xpr7550 into this in digital will not work). Not *entirely* sure if this type of setup works for NXDN or P25 but id imagine the audio quality will be severely worse considering the voice is being decoded from rx side and re-encoded on tx side.

I have a question are you using a duplexer at all because I have the same radios and I'm trying to make a repeater and I just need to know all I need is that core to do that right cuz I found that cord on eBay but I need to know are you using any duplexes or anything like that and are they going to two separate antennas cuz that's what I'm going to use two separate antenna s at separate height distance
@cmnoutdoors97513 жыл бұрын
This setup was just bench testing so with that I had the TX side into a 100W dummy load and the RX radio without even an antenna (since it was just on the bench for a demo) In the environment it is/was planned for it would indeed use a duplexer since the site only has one UHF antenna. I am unfortunately an amateur so I am not familiar with the "Best" separation of antennas if you are running dual on UHF with a 5 mhz split however the further apart vertically the better the attentiation between RX and TX. every repeater tower and system is unique to the tower, frequency, and other local interference. I apologize i can't be more specific. I do not want to lead you in the wrong direction. By best advice would be a high quality 6 cavity band pass/ reject style duplexer. I have had very poor previous experience using the cheaper/simpler "mobile pack" duplexers some use. they do great at separating the TX from the RX however do nothing past that such as out of band

Is the controller do ID?
@rash040110 ай бұрын
This controller is a basic crossband style where it has zero hang time and no ID . It does however have adjustable audio gain both directions

Could something like this work w/ a 800MHZ apx900?

i do believe so. i have not tested but do not see why it couldn't

The issue is you have no way to turn it off remotely. Part of part 97 is you need to be able to remotely turn it off if need be.

I have roughly 10 xpr5350e radios. I would like to make a simplex repeater similar to this. What cable would i use?
