I bought a 1974 GTV in 1978 for under $4000 from an Alfa dealer in Belmar NJ. It was 90% perfect. White with black interior. It was my pride and joy. Unfortunately my Dad got very sick and I was forced to sell so I could help with their bills. I have photos and they both elate and sadden me. My stepdad was a panel beater, fabricator, paint sprayer,usually mixing by eye,in fact he could do anything automotive related, but watching the alfa transformation was not only inspiring, but memory inducing, my stepdad attempted something similar with a Morris Minor and a Rover v8 and a Jaguar rear axle. Just fitting that motor into a pristine car and getting it to work would have been a task but I see you had to rescue, restore, and reinforce the entire car first. My god man you are a legend. Once of my motorcycles is a 90s Moto Guzzi that sat for 2 years in a dealership in Adelaide before I bought it. I made some mods and encountered some pushback from purists who told me it wasn’t what they would have done. My reply was that they had their chance to control the process by getting in first and buying it, and since they didn’t that perhaps they should shut the fark up. Critics are a dime a dozen. More power to Jeff, I say.

Wow, big call! I think purists love cars too, just in a different way. I personally love what Jeff has done with this particular car, given what it would have taken to restore it. However, I also love a pure Alfa or Ferrari. These 105’s in pure form are now attracting big money, but it takes as much to get them to that standard. Of course, money is only one consideration when restoring or modifying.
