this piece still is one of the most amazing compositions ever made by anyone. even though i hadn't heard it in many many years, i still remembered every word, lilt in sylvian's vocal, and the sensitive piano of the amazing sakamoto. after 24 years, it still gives me goosebumps.

I was 16 when this movie came out. I was eager to see it because I was a big Bowie fan at the time and still am. So when I watch it every so often or listen to the Sakamoto song and sound track it brings back some deep memories. Glad on KZbin we can see the video from it. I did like this movie a lot yet at the same time there is a lot of sadness about this movie so it's kinda melancholy. Another song from the soundtrack of my life. Wish I could go back to circa 1983. Only in the '80s.

Heard this when I was 13 and it made me realize how powerful and emotional the impact of music could be- and ever since, I have been striving to create something as beautiful as this piece....without much success I would add, but I'll never give up trying

This movie is in my top 10! And I don't really like war movies at that much. But this movie has much more of a psychological and human perspective to it. The way the director captured the characters' emotions is quite amazing!
@littleoogie17 жыл бұрын
This film is amazing. It explores the harsh extremities of Japanese traditions that as far back as ancient times. Honour being the most important thing. It also explores the difference between British and Japanese thinking. All of this as well as having a strong homosexual undercurrent. These are things that rarely ever get explored in films on their own let alone all at once.

I think this movie ois exceptional. This is probably the best performance David Bowie ever gave, except for his role in The Elephant Man. He was very sympathetic to the plight of his fellow soldiers .

David Sylvian - Forbidden Colours Lyrics The wounds on your hands Never seem to heal I thought all I needed was to believe Here am I, a lifetime away from You The blood of Christ or the beat of my heart My love wears forbidden colours My life believes Senseless years thunder by Millions are willing to give their lives for You Does nothing live on? Learning to cope with feelings aroused in me My hands in the soil, buried inside of myself My love wears forbidden colours My life believes in You once again I'll go walking in circles While doubting the very ground beneath me Trying to show unquestioning faith in everything Here am I, a lifetime away from You The blood of Christ, or a change of heart My love wears forbidden colours My life believes My love wears forbidden colours My life believes in You once again

I told my mom about this when I was a freshman in college. It was her favorite as was David Bowie. The night she killed herself while overdosing she watched this and it played on a continuous wrap on her dvd player. It kills me almost to listen to it and watch it is even worse. 😿

So sorry about your mom. Same thing happened to me at 7. We’ll never know if it was an accidental overdose. I believe it was because she loved us so much.In the late 60’s, early 70’s doctors handed out prescriptions for Valium like it was candy. Mixed with alcohol was lethal. Blessings🙏🏼
