"The Star" was such a good finale. It was heartbreaking to think of Brody and the fact that he knew nothing but suffering from the moment he was a POW to his last breath. All the while being pulled in so many directions and trying to be there for his family too. Those final seconds coupled with this music was an excellent tribute to the character.

I cannot agree more with you! The other day I finished season 3 and what you are saying reflects my thoughts on Brody and his tragic end. He never had the chance to fully heal and recover from all the tortures and torments he had suffered as a POW in the Middle East.

I have to admit, that this TV series is more than just a TV series. It has so many grey areas and is thanks to the writers not a clear black and white show like so many other TV series. It is not about finding perfect solutions and make everyone happy, it is about portraying the Grey areas in decision making and it does a fucking great job in doing so. Also, the actors are just... amazing. TBH: Damian Lewis is one hell of a fucking good actor. Claire Dains as well. Her portraying of a person suffering from a mental illness is just amazing. These two actors are idk... just amazing.

S3E12: What is the real meaning of Carrie drawing that star? She knew him before she ever saw his face. She climbed into the walls of his house, and heard his sleeping breathing, and fell in love with him. She traveled side-by-side with him, through his trauma and his recovery, their hearts beat in tandem long before they met, and when they met the whole sky lit up. The purpose for which they were put on this Earth. She brought him back, so many times, she hauled him up out of there, every time it got dark. So few of us are ever really known. Downstairs at Langley is dark; they’ve taken away all the chairs and left the stars on the walls. It’s empty, empty even of the memories we brought today. Empty of the pain, and the death; empty of heroes. It’s just a room, and a book locked up tight with every name we’re allowed to know; it’s just a wall, with stars named in the book. It’s just a space, where a woman draws a star upon the wall, the perfect size, as though it were left there purposefully for him. She has a million names, and the star has none. But it shines on her, nonetheless. It always will. [www.brilliantbutcancelled.com/show/homeland/the-star-season-3-episode-12/17/] In season 2, Brody was cornered by Nazir and did what he had to do (help eliminate VP Walden), to save Carrie. Would the queen of the drones also report this in her book? It's because? No, Carrie’s gonna take that to the grave. It implicates her, for one, and I think in the book she did as much as possible to rehab Brody’s image and “accessory to murder of the VP” does not contribute to that outcome. homeland | the final countdown | “the star” “Because the real story is that a little boy who loved guns and tanks and soldiers, and most of all his country, grew up to be a Marine. He sacrificed much more than his life, and ten years later came back a beast that climbed slowly back into the light. A thousand pieces of a man, each one of them stronger than you or I, knit themselves back together: Through unshakeable faith, and an uncommon love, in the end he died without sin. His back was straight and his eyes were clear and the last thing he saw was something beautiful.”

What is the significance of Carrie Mathison always listening to jazz music in Homeland (TV Series)? In the opening credits a young girl is seen playing a trumpet, assuming this is Carrie, and assuming she is playing jazz, she must be very intelligent. Jazz and the jazz musician supply an ideal metaphor for the rapid flow of esoteric thought, and acute mental activity seen in Claire Danes’ masterful portrayal of Carrie. In addition to the swamp full of doubtful, unimpressed or unresponsive listeners, together make for one enticing drama. In the original concept of the show, the different types of jazz that Saul and Carrie enjoy were supposed to become a symbol of their different methods of intelligence work: Carrie loves the chaotic Thelonious Monk; while Saul prefers the smoother, calmer John Coltrane. That's why there's the Louis Armstrong bit in the opening montage, and the two of them talk about it once or twice early in the first season. As things changed during the actual writing of Season 1, that particular bit of character development got lost in the shuffle. I believe Jazz expalins Carrie's behavrioul disorder/mental state ... She Loves Jazz which in really contemporary and most importantly as Jazz music flows ups and down so does Carrie's mental state... She even co-relate Jazz with the movements of Brody's finger when he is on camera which either writer's semingly introduced to create confusion for Audiances however it also shows that Jazz is also over her mind ... flowing yet saddistic ksksks

Friday August 23, 2013 10:00pm The lobby was now dark and empty with the exception of Marcus the security guard, who disregards Carrie's late night presence, as it's anything but unusual. The day had been filled with a flood of emotions, from the ceremony to Saul showing up. Finally she had a moment to herself. Carrie approaches the wall, reaches into her bag and grabs her current weapon of choice. It's a just a typical black Sharpie marker, but it's sure to do the job. Brody is going to get his star. The sound it makes when it maneuvers against the wall is electrifying. It feels right. She continues filling in the shade to imitate the others. It's there and it belongs. You ARE a hero and I'm sorry. This is for everything good you have done. Goodbye Nicholas Brody. She inspects her memorial, satisfied with the outcome, and makes her way out the main entrance. homeland || “the star” “Because the real story is that a little boy who loved guns and tanks and soldiers, and most of all his country, grew up to be a Marine. @@mustafa-cx2fg Really, you think? I mean, he had not much of a voice in all season together and besides his monologue he had in Season 2-11 i think, he had not much influence on the show either tbh. He was just a terrorist who did not say much. Hell even Roya i guess had more speech time than Nazir had. Furthermore, most of his speeches or talking was plain stuff any terrorist could say. TBH: I would rather say, that Nazir was an average character and little to no development at all.

This season did not live up to the 2 before it but how could it. It was still good compared to most shows on TV today, but the storylines and plot issues that were forgotten about or briefly addressed stand out. There were no “manhunt” for Brody scenes at the beginning of the season to make it seem like he was really wanted in the U.S. Where did Roya Hammad and her terrorist partner M.M. go? We never got an explanation to the events surrounding how brody’s car was moved and his involvement but what we did get was some guy in a hotel who we are supposed to believe is this super heel that moved the car. For such an investment in storytelling surrounding Brody’s family over the past 3 seasons for it to just disappear into nothing the way it did was a waste of time. And all those scenes about Mike and Brody’s wife continuously falling for each other but just end it cold in season 3 was pointless. What about Brody’s marine friends who thought he was part of the conspiracy? And Quinn’s underutilization throughout the season after being central to the start of the premiere of season 3. All good points, they should have made homeland a 3 hour show and addressed everything possible!
