I love the detail that he talks to himself like a dad talks to their son. “Tiger, Buddy, My Boy.”Even when he thinks he doesn’t want a dad, he still makes up his own. It really shows how given a normal life, homelander could have actually been a good person had he been raised by someone other than himself.

I don't think so People may act absolutely evil or good under some specific situations or conditions But Everyone has a natural tendency to be good or bad in general situations which is though just a factor along with nurturing May be he would had become a good man through constant practice of being noble (bounded under limits) while decisions. But this means he is trained for that, even he wouldn't know the reason of being a good man but he is good man...

@@easygrin1127 He never had a good life. He was raised without loving parents or guardians. He's been isolated from humanity in any and every meaningful way from the start. He's so inherently damaged by his upbringing that he can't form meaningful connections with anyone; the ones he does make are often meant to manipulate him (Stilwell, Stormfront, etc.). The love of the public is the only love he's ever known, and he's terrified to lose it because he'll have nothing else. He's broken and pathetic and sad and he's too far gone. He's not gonna change, and even if he did, it would be too late. It wouldn't undo the things he has done. He genuinely and truly deserves to die, but it didn't have to be this way.

If you want to go deeper kal el starts a bit differently cause even though he might not remember much as a baby he still had some fond and warm memories with his loving family, and they sacrificed themselves to send at least him to safety. He also knows he is ACTUALLY much different biologically as he grows up, xray vision shows kryptonians are different than humans. Homelander never has any of those. I’m so glad they didn’t make the show just like the comics. The show is better and it’s not even comparable. Each and every character has so much depth and complex motives. Homelander isn’t just “evil” Superman, he’s an extremely complex character who steals the show every time he’s on screen. Thanks to Starrs performance and the writer’s decision to stray from the comics make this show one of the best TV shows or any piece of media that is, of all time. Just when you think you understand who homelander is he manages to make you feel sorry for him. Obviously he deserves to face his consequences for all the evil he’s done but you can’t help but see him as a victim because he is one. Vought used him and everyone else they’ve hurt. I don’t think he can be “redeemed” per say but I could see there being a storyline where he decides that he’s done with all this and flys off into space on some Omni man shit. I’m torn between wanting to see him grow and wanting to see him get curbed stomped by the boys.

Yeah sure, I completely agree. And to do this character a justice, before killing him, I would like him to somehow meet a Multiversal variant of himself from an alternate universe where he wasn't raised as an experiment by Vought, but actually got loving parents like Jonathan Kent & Martha Kent or Ben Parker & May Parker , who fulfilled him with morals and the great concept of Great Powers and Great Responsibilities, where he became someone he was always meant to be, something he was always supposed to be. I know the Homelander from that universe will have the same life as pretty much Superman, and not a complex and unique storyline as the original Homelander, but still I want him to listen not to an alter ego inside him but to a completely different version of himself. This meet-up can result in one of the two things, one will be that he gets jealous of his alternate self because he didn't got the loving family that alternate Homelander got, and then he will try to kill that other Homelander and dies in that battle or the second possibility can occur where he actually understands how not to be so self-centred and narcissist despite all the tragedy he went through and have a change of heart, before Billy Butcher actually kills him from behind when he was regretting his doings (yeah, I know, it's kinda dark but it's just what the Boys series do). I know the first possibility won't be a good ending for the character and second one has very less chances to happen and this story arc of him meeting such an alternate variant of himself won't be something 'The Boys' series will show, it's just not their style, but it will be a moral relief if the story goes such a way, it's just something I would like to see happen.

@@princeraghavvashishth6281 i agree he should see some kind of redemption, but I don't think it has to be a multiversial version of him. We already have someone in the show that Homelander can actually relate too, his son. I think thematically it makes sense for Homelanders son to be the one to ultimately bring him to redemption, what I think would be even more interesting is if Billy Butcher ends up being the monster of the show by the end of it. Billy has already shown that he's completely willing to sacrifice innocent lives to get what he wants, which is already scarily similar to the mentality a lot of supes have.
