Watch the series here!
play.google.com/store/tv/show...
Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? When it's the powerless against the super powerful, the Boys head out on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. Based on the comic book series of the same name.

You would not believe me if I told you there are people here on KZbin who think and said the same thing homelander said about Africans and think that colonialism and genocide was beneficial for the entire Africa. The most ironic thing was that those homelander like people were Americans. Edit: even after 2 weeks this comment is getting replied from triggered people.🤣

Just like modern celebs vs the older generations. With the advent of cellphones and internet we know things like Matthew Broderick killing two people in a car accident, or Victor Salva (director of Jeepers Creepers) soliciting oral from a minor. Compared to those like Jimmy Saville or Rolf Harris who kept their nastiness behind closed doors until the end of their life/career, and whose 'shifty' or 'shady' moments would be likely overlooked without the benefit of 2 million people watching the clip of those losing it on YT.

@@jagermeister-3812 You lack information. Most people outside of the US in these kinds of places use pay-as-you-go types of plans when they need minutes, and use whatsapp + public wifi/internet cafe when they don't have minutes. Chargers are a one-time cost, and the electricity usage of a phone is minimal. What you gain from having a phone (access to family, resources, job searching, etc.) is far more valuable than the one month of groceries or 1/4 month's rent you'd get from selling a phone. (Further, most of the time it's a used or old phone to begin with, so it's not like selling it would do much anyways). In some ways, it's more expensive not to have a phone than it is to have a phone. Your iPhone 15 Pro Max costs a lot, a 5-year old barebones Nokia does not. This is the same energy as the old Fox news article complaining about how people on food stamps own refrigerators.

@kingol4801
@kingol4801 11 ай бұрын
Homelander is a consequence of human evil. He is “god’s retribution”, in a way. What do you expect if you do experiments on a child and deprive him of parents? Then, when he is still weak at the age of 3-4, beat him down with other mature supes so that he learns how to fight back and be violent… Keep him in solitary confinement until he is 12 or so. Oh, and THEN, assign experienced mature female molester to manipulate him… Sorry, but human psyche breaks after couple years of solitary confinement. Or torture, which he experienced (much like Soldier Boy, he felt pain, even though he is highly durable). Or 20 others messed up things that happened to him. Homelander is the greatest victim of the series, and the fact he turned out somewhat socially functional (as opposed to a murderous, feral child like in Brightburn)…. Is a wonder, really. Homelander must have head Superman-like level of compassion to stay sane after 5+ simultaneous abuses and crimes against humanity he was subjected to. And even that level of god-like tenacity was not….. enough. Nobody can psychologically recover from that level of damage. That world can burn for what they did to him, for all I care. And him lashing out is just justice through vengeance. If the world allows a monopolistic control on superpowers by a late-stage capitalist corrupt corporation, as well as child experimentation and “breaking” (like gaining elephants, but on infant supes)…. We as species don’t deserve to exist. We simply don’t. That kind of world is not worth existing in.
@kingol4801
@kingol4801 11 ай бұрын
To further clarify your point, Solider Boy illustrated your example much better than Homelander. Homelander was messed up, but he got dealt the shittiest hand possible, and his turn to a monster is not his fault. Soldier Boy chose to be a dick, a racist and an abuser. He is depiction of manageable psychological damage (toxic masculinity from his father’s side), resulting in power-trip when enabled. He is charismatic, but really, he is fake and just a dick. Most people missed that due to being blinded with Homelander being a more obvious/potent evil, even though Soldier Boy is just as bad, if not more accountability-wise.

Nobody appreciated his value of life: - Solitary confinement (12 years or so) - Torture on a child - Deprived of parental figures as a BABY - Human/child experimentation - Sexual manipulation by a mature female molester - Labeling him as a product/asset of a company, neglecting his human rights - Breach of any and all privacy/constant supervision. Why should he appreciate lives of humanity then, if humanity did THAT to him? He is pretty well composed, because any human when subjected to THAT level of damage would become completely psychotic, feral and murderous like Brightburn.

What makes Amazon Homelander is that he is smart compared to comic Homelander
@kingol4801
@kingol4801 11 ай бұрын
Depends. He is cunning, but not particularly smart. Comic book’s Homelander is smarter-ish, but not at all perceptive (which is ironic, since he has super-perception as one of his distinguishing powers). Comic book Homelander is bad at reading people, even though he has speed-thinking that he uses, A LOT. His computation power + perception powers are stronger, but his social intelligence in bad in comics. Smart VS cunning/manipulative are different criteria.

Is that actually a war crime though? Civilian casualties are messed up but they happen in war all the time. He wasn’t intentionally targeting the kid, he didn’t even know he was there. A better candidate for a war crime might be when he killed fleeing or wounded and helpless combatants, but y’know… that’s not the one that got caught on camera.

From the looks of it, Homelander really wanted some supervillains roaming around. When Vought was thinking of a name for them, they had in mind stuff like superterrorist, super criminal etc, but he liked supervillain. Not surprising, it must be boring to laser people instantly or one punch them to death etc, he probably wanted actual powerful enemies for the glory.
