It's the weather. Not all the city. I lived in mn forn 20 years and I literally couldn't wrap my mind around how a homeless person would survive through the winter. I lived in a luxury apartment it was still freezing inside. I always toldyselfnif I ever fucked up enough to be homeless I'd go str8 to cali so I don't die in winters.

I'm sure they can but what they can't do is the human contact we give them and that we show we care about them and just talking to them.....most of the time they go months without seeing any family if they see them at all... I took care of 20 people and only one person had a family member that came on a regular basis. two more had family that came by every few months or so. it's hard to see. they loved me. why? because I was the person who made them smile and joked with them and gave them a hug. so yea they could get a robot to do the job but they need human contact someone to show they matter still. and that what a robot can't do because it's not another human showing they care.

Predictable 'game-like' scenarios like vehicle traffic is easy stuff for AI, knowing how to adjust to any situation on the fly, and how a person might react is exponentially more complex, and that's without factoring in the robotics which will have to keep up, and which robotics are so far behind AI. People don't move forward with the technology, they look at what they want to "I.A/Automation, {A.I is automation, we don't have self thinking programing machines} Jobs will be created with programmed robots needing to be built, however, it's only the billionaire corps that can afford this tech. The biggest problem with being homeless is the simple fact they're out of the system, in many cases they can't get help or replace ID cards etc without having an address. In the UK homeless people can use the DHSS as their address to claim benefits, however, the DHSS isn't a free information advice center, therefore they don't tell people this. This is part of the systems failure, people that need help and advice who have no money, their just considered as trash!! It's clear to me after watching many LA homeless videos for many years that people are being priced out, many have got up and moved to another state. This is another problem many have. "I was born here, I'll die here" Like their feet are nailed down.

Meaning people aren't taking vacations, leaving hotels and motels mostly vacant, which the city is just using that to get some of you off the streets for a bit to maybe make a change. But since I believe the problem is more mental and not having the will to work like most people, the stay in a hotel or motel is basically just a vacation for these people who don't want to be responsible.

Couldn’t agree more, he thinks it’s smart to spend his time trying to show others how to be homeless rather then getting a job. If he valued money as much as he says he’d get a job. He seems way more intelligent then most homeless with drug addiction or mental illness but clearly no worth ethic or ambition. Blaming technology and AI for the reason of being homeless is absurd.
@enniebudy
@enniebudy 4 жыл бұрын
Because he is absolutely correct. Humans are no longer needed or wanted to do labor tasks. Robotics and AI were a predicted threat in the 70's, and idealized well before that in fictional novels. Even our generations cartoons, pretty clearly show the benefits, but not the adverse conditions created by the offset of a superior competitor(IE:machines). Humans do make for good lab rats, all Mcgovmnt agrees. Unless you maintain or develop Robots, your future is bleak. But if you develop and maintain robots, others will lose their jobs, and become obsolete. What is the moral choice you would make, sacrifice yourself, or destroy others. Yep, just like The Twilight Zone: Season 2, Episode 29.

It’s sad to say but that’s really the only way to get homelessness literally up off their feet. When they settle somewhere they get too comfortable and keep themselves homeless. When I lived in California last year, there was an RV of homeless people that parked in front of our house and stayed there. At first they were somewhat responsible, they moved the RV on the street cleaning days, they picked up after themselves, and we really didn’t see them. After a while, they stopped moving on street cleaning days and parking enforcement never did anything about it. They started putting out trash to purposely not allow other cars to park near them. They started coming out in the day time, walking around the neighborhood which “coincidentally” was around the time someone broke into my car (at noon on a major busy street). Someone broke into the house across the street, someone broke into our garage. All their drug addict friends started showing up, they’d pass out or start yelling like maniacs. One guy with a machete was walking around the neighborhood at some point. And police did nothing. I understand some people are down on their luck but there are way to many resources and opportunities to live on the street for extended periods of time. That’s why if you make it inconvenient for them to settle somewhere, it’ll at least get them actively thinking and somewhat productive rather than just sit somewhere zoning out.

Ya, it hasn't happened yet, but they want to get above that curve and be homeless. By the way, No ROBOT will EVER be able to replace my job!!! Not even close. When the Robots come in and take over a job, there will be new higher-paid jobs coming in to fix those robots and they break down as an example. People lose their jobs since forever as things change and yet more people are working than ever before. One of the biggest job losses in recent years is meter readers. No one is going around every month reading your Electrical, Gas, and Water meters anymore. It's all wireless. Those people moved onto other jobs. Lots of people don't collect a bunch of crap at their homes. I wish I had less, but a lot of it is out of my control, for now, otherwise, it would have been tossed long ago. You're out on Public land, blocking sidewalks from everyone else with huge piles of CRAP. It's not recycling, especially when the city comes by and has to pick up all the crap to throw away. They become rat-infested places, which causes all kinds of new problems. They should have their tent and a few importing things like clothing. Stuff that can fit into that 1 tent. Stuff that you can quickly load up and move when you are told to move!!!

He is an outlier I'd say. He chose his situation basically. He is a professional bullshiter. He should be a politician. There are lazy people or they just love this lifestyle. I don't think they are a big chunk. There is no helping in this case as it's their choice. Lot of homeless are broken people and they need to be in a proper mental institution, but sadly these places have an stigma attached to them. The druggies should also be in an institution to clean up. I feel sorry for their situation, but the only solution for them is to not be free roaming in society. They can't help themselves and free roaming will just make things more miserable for everyone. The people who lost their house and are in a difficult situation should get proper help and shelter so they can get back to a better proper living. Sadly the government just bunch them all together and they think there is a solution that fits all of them. Politicians are very lazy with solutions and provide just half measures that are basically contracts for their acquaintances.

Take care of those that can't take care of themselves, assist those who can work with what they need to get a job and a home, make the slackers move on to where they can live without ruining places for other people. Maybe we need reservations for those folks where they could use their many talents to be self-sustaining. Lots of unused arid land in California.

Janet Crane I don’t have a problem with people choosing to be homeless, but once their homelessness encroaches on people that choose to break their ass and contribute in society, then it becomes a problem. Go be homeless in the woods somewhere, not in the most desirable neighborhoods in Southern California.

Congrats to the residents for winning a fight they shouldn't even have to have. It is sad those people probably go to work every single day and work hard for what they have and have to deal with people just choosing to be homeless, "Because robots are going to take our jobs and I wanted to get a head start." I do not feel bad at all for those homeless ppl. If this guy put in the slightest bit of effort he could just get a property off grid and do what he wants off grid, like a ton of people already do. Shoot that's what I plan on doing, but I have a job and working for it and not just living on the street. He wants to show others how to do this? How sad that you would encourage others into this lifestyle as if you are doing something good with your life. As for the people with actual mental issues, #BringBackAsylums California needs to stop voting for these idiots in office that are allowing more of this to become more prevalent and normalized.

Sorry people who actually put into the system can't have say on "poor" people who just want to live off the system. Get real.

You want everyone just to be able to move in front of someones house then that person be burdened with supporting that homeless person just because they are there? These people you want to pay for the homeless work hard then you want them to spend money out of pocket while being taxed to put these homeless people like this guy up that is full on capable of working and supporting himself, just because the gov't can't keep up with it because their terrible policies that keep creating more homeless? @That Flippin Guy Yes, and so am I and I don't concur. I get where you are coming from, because bureaucracy does slow and spend useless money on things. It is our duty to help helpless people, not people just wanting to be homeless and run down the city. I think we should have more public psychiatric care facilities for the mentally ill and more public rehabilitation centers for the junkies and alcoholics; and not so much feeding into peoples habits and addictions would be a good start. The residents of Venice are to be blamed too for these homeless encampments popping up. They just let the homeless do whatever they want. In my neighborhood a homeless guy ended up setting up his place by the alley, never had problems with him, he kept his area clean even ended up cleaning up the whole alley. But then some other homeless tried moving in to the alley and they were so messy. Elderly neighbors confronted the messy homeless people and they went crazy on my neighbors. I tried to talk to them and they got crazy with me. Let’s just say I had to get gangster on them. Next day all their things were removed by choice or force. I learned that the city isn’t going to do anything so you gotta take matters into your own hands.
