Today I went to the beautiful Echo Park in downtown Los Angeles it’s an absolute beautiful park but it seems like the homeless encampments are taken over the whole park I don’t think the situation is getting better I think it’s getting worse I also tried for the first time The paddle boat on the lake I had an awesome time

I'm 34 years old and was homeless since i was 16. The last 6 years i was homeless in Echo park but camped by dodger stadium. i was told by a park ranger stay out of site out mind. That worked for me i stayed hidden and people didn't even know i was there just keep your spot clean. Almost all the homeless are on drugs or have some mental disability shoot i was a heroin addict. A Lot of them are just not ready to change or get clean and admit they got a problem. Some are young they'll get tired of living like that i did. It wasn't hard to turn my life around. I Just admitted i had a problem got on methadone went to homeless health care told them i wanted off the street the next week im in transitional housing. I am now a year and half clean and just got approved for an apartment. So if your homeless and reading this it is real easy to change your situation. But it's up to you to want something better for yourself.

Politicians don't want to solve the homeless problem, it would put many projects that politicians line their pockets with government subsidized funding and construction contracts to their friends. This is a major cash cow for construction businesses, politicians, and county and city officials. If they solved the problem all those contracts, funding, etc would disappear. Check out Venice, the cost of housing is so inflated that it's impossible for these areas to actually build housing that fits the economic model, there is a video done by epoch times, with a city council member who explains how and why the discrepancy from cost of building homes for homeless and why the problem will never be solved, even though there are non profit organizations that can provide shelter to homeless for a fraction of the costs of these multi-billion dollar construction projects. It's really eye opening when you hear what can be done versus what is being done and what is being approved by state politicians and businesses

I was homeless after high school graduation 1979 in the Great North Woods in Northern New Hampshire. Crap family, no jobs. I had to live in a tent even in winter. For a living hunted, trapped animals for food and pelts, fished, picked berries, cattail shoots whatever it took to survive. Picked the dump for metals to sell. Bathed in cold mountain streams. Damn I made it. Nature tried to kill me several times but made me tough as can be. Over the years I have turned it around. Overcoming difficulties makes you stronger. Carry on, Seize the Day.

I feel the same way. I grew up in San Diego/LA and I’m so glad I don’t live there anymore. The whole state has really gone down. The state and local governments have really done nothing to address the homeless issues. For the most part they just look the other way as people just trash the city.

@@triciajohnston8259 I'm in Oregon and, sadly, we are seeing an increase here daily. Our dictator governor keeps prematurely releasing imprisoned felons who often wind up on the streets. They are dangerous to everyone, including the homeless. I don't know what the answer is as many of the homeless are addicts and don't want the resrictions necessary to get clean. There are also a large portion of them that won't get help because they would have to get rid of their dogs and cats. It's a HUGE problem growing daily. One local park where I formerly walked my dog is simply too full of homeless to go to anymore. While walking at another park I had an encounter with a man that kept trying to engage me in conversation beyond hello and nice day. He followed me around trying to chat. I began to get nervous so cut my walk short returning to my car and left. It's not as bad here as LA but definitely on the rise.

People without homes have ALWAYS flooded into California in hard times. Especially in the winter time. In fact it has been proven repeatedly that many Red states pay for their bus tickets one way to California. Go back and look at the Great Depression. The fact that you cannot rent a place anywhere in the city because of the prices and 3/4 the housing stock being held by real estate investors and people using them as AirBNB's? Of course you have an issue. Welcome to late stage capitalism. It has ended up exactly where science has always said that it would.

@@davefroman4700 This guy mentioned on this video (And others) that there are a large number of young people. I remember when I was in my 20's and knew a lot of young couples who loved traveling the U. S....often to work in traveling circuses. Makes me wonder how many of those tents are pitched by them and others who just needed a place to live for a few weeks or months until they moved-on. I don't really know much about the homeless......just my observations.

It was heartbreaking to see the tent with the garden, potted plant and vase of flowers on the table. Someone trying to make it really their home. Most of the sites were clean with not much trash around. It looked a lot better than most of the homeless camps.

This homeless camp looks light years better than most of the ones I see on KZbin. It's relatively clean, has a community garden, cleverly rigged tents, and you don't see a bunch of tweekers all over the place. German said they have no hope, but in a place that together, I believe they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Get a post office box, and a job, save enough to move into a room in a house, and JUST SAY NO TO DRUGS!!!
