I live in Tucson, and honestly a LOT of these homeless people are crackheads. I’ve seen a lady standing next to a freeway exit yelling and throwing hands at nothing but thin air. This morning on my way to work, I literally saw a guy using a crack pipe. I also saw a homeless man/crackhead walk thru a drivethru and just start yelling and screaming and frantically throwing his hands at the window for literally no reason. When I went to college downtown, there was a gas station next to the college, and multiple times I would get out to go to class and they’d be screaming at the top of their lungs at eachother, basically speaking gibberish. There was another night where my battery died ln my vehicle, so I stayed inside my vehicle sitting outside of a fast food place, and this one crackhead lady was walking by, then as she walks by my truck starts yelling and threatening me she’s gonna F me up. Tucson is a different breed of homeless, because a lot of them genuinely are crackheads.

I use to feed the homeless in Philadelphia back when I was 18 for a few years. I use to collect a ton of coats from work and hand them out one time we ran out and my husband emptied out his pockets and handed a homeless man his own coat. Helping others is not a crime. Once we fed about 30-50 people at the art museum imagine all those people happy and grateful at that moment it’s a great feeling that you know you helped people in need. The only time my dad who drive got in trouble was when he stopped a woman wearing a dress and asked her where the closest McDonald’s was to pick up coffee and she answered back in a male voice, “sure baby I’ll tell you what you want to know for $50” lol never saw him turn red like that ever. Lol keep doing good in this world you have a wonderful soul 💖

Those 2 that approached you should be ashamed of themselves. Theres a difference between "doing their job" and "being a decent human being". Michael, the ordinance makes no sense really. Yes, the wording is legalese. Just for helping. They might turn a blind eye instead. It's not as if you're feeding a line- up of people in the way of a "soup kitchen." Thanks as always ❤️ for what you do! Seems you've been passionate about this cause for a good number of years. Thank you, Michael, for all you do. I especially appreciated this segment, regarding Tucson ordinance against feeding people in the parks, of which I was unaware. Until July of 2020, I have spent most of each year persuing my own mission to feed the elderly and disabled in the ranchitos in a mountainous area of one state. Not only was LEGAL to do so, but actually encouraged and much appreciated by the Cruz Roja (Red Cross) the churches and, of course, the people themselves! Without help, the poorest of the poor were eating tortillas and fruit that fell off the trees, not much more. I'm disabled and on SSA, but I missed being able to help, si I recently began handing out gallons of ice cold water, cokd watermelon and home cooked hot food in one of the parks. You saved me from being cited. It saddens me that Tucson is creating and growing an already out if control homeless population. Apparently, there are no caps on how much landlords can increase rents. Once you have an eviction on your record, I hear that is impossible to get approved for another home. In the last month, friebds have told me of rents being raised from $100/mo yearly, to $450 and one $1000/month increase. Their wages and income haven't increased, so they cannot pay, therefore, ever increasing evictions. God bless!
