It's not the immigrants fault, the States of Texas and the governor of Florida have decided to trick some migrants and send them to New York, Chicago, and Boston. The point is to show the rest of the cities and states what it's like to be overrun with immigrant needing Housing Shelter food clothing job and legal help. It's been going on in Texas for a long time, Governor Abbott change the buses up here to try and get the rest of the country to help solve the problem.

Your property taxes pay for all the services in your area. The food banks or subsidies provided to charity food banks the tents and sleeping bags they give out the needle exchange programs, the ngos who are getting city grants the extra fire and police needed because of the homeless camps etc. You haven't seen anything yet

Street homeless live very modest and minimalistic type of life. They put a tent on a sidewalk, and that becomes their new home with new stories. They don't bother anyone and want to be left alone. Sadly, 99% of street homeless are fentanyl and Tranq addicts and will not be among us in the next several years.

Homelessness is becoming a Norm.. from people living pay check to pay check, rents on the high, food prices rising, gas going up, many many people are struggling, many people on living on the verge of becoming homeless. The United States has so much money that they CAN help the homeless. Why are they asking for federal assistance to house the migrants from Venezuela, apparently it’s inhumane to let them sleep on the streets YET the People from here are sleeping on the streets, eating from trash cans! Help the homeless, everyone needs help one time in their lives!

Because rent is so expensive here!!!! NJ really needs to have laws stopping landlords from raising the rent for no reason. My apartment right now it's old and falling apart but they raised the rent $100 more this year and for what! They're not fixing anything, they're not upgrading anything, they don't replace things that need to be replaced i end up doing repairs myself! It should really be going down every year because the place is just getting older and crappier !!!!

It has to be at least three times that many homeless. The ones who aren't showing up for services or are visibly on the sidewalks aren't counted. A lot can stealth camp in their vehicles, couch surf, maybe hide in camps that no one has discovered, etc. Not everyone will wander into a soup kitchen or talk to social workers and data collectors. The vacancies are for high-end units. Low-cost units are scarce and ones in good condition are like a needle in a haystack. If there are 250,000 waiting for an affordable unit, maybe that is the true number of homeless or almost homeless. Even a lot of the affordable units are not low enough for very low-income people to rent.
@hstone39
@hstone39 10 ай бұрын
That's the same thing I was thinking. Those numbers are a whole lot worse and I been seeing an increase of homeless people out here too. The only thing different from NJ and the rest of the country is that there isn't too many tent cities all over the place. There's a lot of people that's good at hiding that they are homeless.

I live in Calif. where the homeless population is the biggest in the country. The homeless presence here is so overwhelming that they kinda blur together as one group. Intellectually, we know that the teasons for homelessness are many, ranging from fentanyl addicts and mentally unwell ppl at one extreme to employed ppl that can't afford the high rents at the other extreme. In any case, it's difficult to witness this level of ppl living in tents and under tarps as if the U.S. were a third world country.

And everything to do with broken and dysfunctional home. When mom and dad aren’t active in children’s life, those children grow up to become aimless, and homeless.
