He said one one or two things that do not add up , he was deployed to Rwanda and shot 2 kids after SWAPO attacked a village ,SWAPO is from Namibia, the 32 battalion was deployed to Namibia and Angola but never heard of it going to Rwanda ( and SWAPO is Namibian)

Be careful believing everything your hear about us South Africans. This chap, for sure as hell, is committing acts of stolen valour. Crackpot believing his own stories. Not even Japanese that he spoke. 32Bn was never in Rwanda. And he never served in 32 Bn. 100% BS.

Roelof van Rensburg 7 days ago @wide awake podcast. This person has never been in 32Bn and his story brings great discredit to a unit that served with distinction. Please rectify or remove completely. Best regards Roelof van Rensburg 32 Batallion Veterans' Association Chairman.

Josh theres a lot of inaccuracies in this. The SADF was never deployed to Rwanda and SWAPO was in Angola. And 32 Battalion was NEVER deployed to Rwanda either. This is stolen valor. he's a bullshitter.

Hey, thanks for the comments! With this kind of an episode I usually take things with a pinch of salt! I think it’s important to talk to people from all backgrounds and hear their stories but obviously with someone like Gavin it’s always hard to know what is true and what isn’t! With most of my guests their stories are known but someone living on the streets with an addiction problem might say things that are incorrect or not true! I want to start talking to people I meet randomly because I think it’s interesting. I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen the channel soft white underbelly. He talks to people living on the streets and addicts. He mainly focuses on people living in Skid Row in LA! Their stories aren’t always accurate but I think it’s still very interesting to hear from them! 🙏🏼

@@wideawakepodcast you are doing an awesome job. I love them and look forward to them. Maybe we can do one. I am a recovering addict and I just recently swam the English Channel. Got almost 16 years clean time. I would love to get the message across that there is life after recovery and addiction and if you can overcome addiction, you can do anything.

My 25 year old brother was homeless and addicted to drugs. Who recently started working and changing his life. Man we have no idea what the streets are like. The stories he's told me is heartbreaking. He told me I once walked past him while his head was under a blanket as he was smoking tik. I didn't know it was him but he knew it was me because I was walking and talking to a friend.

There are so many of our ex soldiers lost out there. They're not qualified to do anything but be soldiers. It's very sad. 32 battalion and the Reckies were very hardened soldiers. Many suffered from severe PTSD.

Real stories from real people are the ones we can really connect with. Well collated and executed material that can only get better and better. Nice job mate! Keep creating.

It's now R250 a quarter R400 a half R800 a gram R1500 for 2 grams and an ounce/kg brick is R70,000 and 6 tons is R25,000,000 the numbers might look good now but selling the stuff you'll make your money but you'll end up in one of three places jail, streets, or worse in a coffin at the hands of competition

Yup, you're right @timflack87. Definitely not Japanese. It sounds like he's thrown together a few different languages - for example, (and I may be incorrect, but this is just what I hear + what words I could pick out from the languages I know a little bit of)... He says "Wǒ" which, in Mandarin, is "I". I also hear "Xiǎoqì" (possibly also Mandarin), and then he chucks in a "khon tai" which means Thai person in Thai. Not sure what his aim was tbh 😂
