I’m a beginner who appreciates the longer videos with the details

@tonyrosen2440 thank you. I try to get the details without making it into a 2hr long video, but not something that is 5 minutes either.

Thank you. Use to have older homelite gear drives a few years back, need to find more of them again.

Love these old Homelites. They are beasts. Just keep going. I like the long videos on revivals as I like to play at my bench also and can follow along if I don’t know something

Quick way to tell a standard XL12 from a Super XL12 is the Super will have oil fill forward of handle. You have standard XL12 54cc and a super XL12 58cc

The thing is all three say Super XL on them despite having those differences so that's what is confusing me. All are auto oilers too.

Not always outo oiler. Someone has changed the sides. They are interchangeable tricking you between the two models. Super has oil fill in front of handle, like I mentioned

I just acquired one. The guy said that it’s the carb. But everything looks good. I put fuel in and the tank is leaking I do believe. Started taken it apart to see but I am mint quite sure how to get to it. Looks like I need to take the chain drive needs taken off. That’s what I am not sure on how it comes off. I have not taken one apart so I don’t want to break or take something apart not knowing how or break something.

@@j.fabela1748 I'm not a homelite guy so these are still a mystery to me

@@mistermacgray Just by watching what you did gave me an idea. I figured out why it was leaking without taking it all apart. It wasn’t the gasket. Thank.

Hello! I need help, by tapping he takes out pulleys to remove the disc from the electromagnet. I have bent the thread a little and now the nut doesn't fit. Do you know what type of thread it is? I have bought standard and fine Whitworth dies and they don't work, I think the Whitworth ones don't have the same thread pitch, thanks in advance. A greeting from Spain!

She came around and fires up third pull cold and first pull warm, it's a very happy saw. But the blue one, ill be doing a full tear down and rebuild seires on it and it will be getting crank seals so thanks for the info on those.

I have a video I made a few weeks back on me making it that will explain and show it better. It works great and I'll be improving it as needed.

sounds like a possible crank seal air leak?

After the video I played with it more (because why not) and all seems fine and happy. Fires up third pull cold, revs right up cold and warmed up. Its a very happy saw.
