I empathize. Had 3 saws with no spark. A Super XLAO, an XL12, and another XL12. The Super and one XL12 have Wico ignition. The other XL12 has Phelon.. I spent some time swapping parts between the Wicos but no joy. Ordered 2 -point sets and 2 condensers and installed. Still no spark. Went down to town to the small engine store. He had a used condenser and he gave me an XL12 incomplete basket case saw. The used condenser worked in the Super and the basket case condenser worked in the XL12. Joy in Mudville. The NOS condensers I ordered were both bad. Filed the points in the other XL12 and it has spark now too. I am now an expert in pulling flywheels and points and condensers. The air is almost back to a light shade of blue. Oh well, you got to have something to do when there is 3 feet of snow and the thermometer says -35. When you found oil on the points did you suspect a leaking crankcase seal?

I am working on an echo 60s someone was going to throw away come to find out it’s a cool old saw. It’s complete only missing the black top cover. Any way I was lucky enough for it to be that easy cleaned the points they were corroded bad and reassembled and gave her 2 pulls and it lit right off… with some stating juice now to clean the fuel system and she will be ready for cutting again. Great video!

Would really like to have a better look at your flywheel puller, no luck with custom chainsaw’s puller. Little Red Barn has one a lot like customs that looks better. Thanks for the video, it helps to see what I need first.👍

In the late '70-early '80 our shop had a coil tester that worked on multiple coils. Don't remember the brand but we used it mostly on Lawnboys. As I remember it worked on solid state coils also. Any ideas?

@7:25 in the video you have .16 to .20MFD for the condensor, Capital M means "mega" so 1 million Farads... Do you mean "Milli" or "Micro" with the M there ? as the difference is a factor of 1000. is it 0.00016 Farads or is is 0.00000016 Farads.
