Since I moved into an apartment in February 2022, I didn't have a proper bed. So it was time to build one. Me being me, it couldn't just be any bed, but one made to outlast me and have unique features that you find nowhere else.

it can be passed off as a handle, since the backboard is so large. honestly might even come in handy for that purpose if he ever moves to another house and doesn't want to fully disassemble the light panels, thereby losing the ability to grab the headboard there

Pro tip: If you leave a trail of burned up routers you'll never get lost. That's what I do. Great project man!

Obviously this is down to personal aesthetic preference, but if you are going to remake the LED panels anyway, you could think about making them in a "warm white" tone instead of the "cool white" you have here. This gives a sort of "cozier" look fitting in a bedroom and I personally think it would look better against the yellow tones in the wood.

If you don't want to see the LEDs in the panels, use two layers of frosted material spaced apart, with one layer close to the LEDs but not touching, and the other layer on the outside.

@@MariusHornberger when I built my sci-fi led flashlight I frosted the glas lens myself with sandpaper. That worked very well. Well, at least when I found out *how* to do it 🤭

I have found that the flexible semi-transparent foam used in packaging works amazing a a diffuser for LEDs

Despite the very small error with the power points lineup, this has got to be one of the best design and builds I have ever seen. The hidden drawers are exceptionally clever. I absolutely love the pebble and epoxy features and I am definitely going to try something similar with my next project. Pat yourself on the back, you deserve it. Well done.

That is not really that easy in brick walls. It also might be a rental space, making this proposition even more questionable, as you would have to reverse this change before moving out.

Really great build! A few thoughts: If you ever get sick of seeing the LEDs, you could take apart some old LCD monitors and steal the diffuser panels from them. The rock inlay looks awesome. I think it would look really cool against a white stain.

I love your videos. The camera work, the narration, the quality woodwork, the creativity and the sense of humor in "future me's" appearances. I wasn't sure of what the 10,000 cost referred to until I thought about all the specialty cam's you purchased.

This was a long project. Totally worth it because now I use it every day ;) I tried to pack as much information as possible in the video without making it boring and keeping the flow up. Raising the bed by 12mm to fix the alignment doesn't work because then the hidden drawers don't work

Or you could just remove the switches and outlets on both sides and build an inlet using so called „Hohlwanddosen“ which are 35mm deep. Then you can add the switches to the front side of the head board and do not need to use the wall switch in a „hole“. And you can choose a different switch/outlet design matching your bed‘s design.

Why don't you just move the outlets 12mm down? An electrician can do that and all you'd have to do is just fill in the wall. I'm sorry if you have already considered it.

Good job! personally I would have incorparated the sockets and switch in the headboard myself. Mayby that is still an option? You dont have to make the light feature again, you could just fill the opening with the plugs behind it and make it flush. Thank you for the great content!

Very nice project, very nicely executed! I‘m so happy that even such a perfectionist makes sometimes some mistakes, but at the same time I can truly feel with you! Simply add 12mm blocks onto the angle brackets that support the headboard to raise it up. Screw holes that may show can be plugged and sanded flush again. Did you forget to mention the hidden restraint bars? :D

Unglaublich viel Arbeit für ein exquisites Schlafmöbel. Ich bewundere den Einfallsreichtum und die Geduld beim Hantieren mit schweren Hölzern auf eng begrenztem Raum. Den (hoffentlich) erholsamen Schlaf in diesem Bett hat sich Marius redlich verdient!

Excellent project Marius. Moving the sockets down 12mm will be much faster as doing the light panel adaption. Yes, it's a little bit of dirt but by using plaster it will be done in 30-40mins. Very well done! Love it!

Im a country guy.....I know work.....How much it takes to complete something....But you take it to another level, completing tasks with sometimes minimal tools and achieving the result of a 10 000eur macine with a simple 300€ macine... Respect

I think you can gain a lot of efficiency in your flattening if you run the router the long way instead of the short way. Especially now that you have the gears, it should be easy to push back and forth. Then you make many fewer passes / adjustments.

The whole thing was an interesting concept, design and build. I especially loved the gravel strip, it was an addition that no one would see coming (as long as they didn't look at previews :)

If those bars are made for what I think thy are: They wont be enough. Been there, just added 4 fixture points to my first bed build. They are always in the wrong position and never just work. Got so frustrated that I almost never used them. My new bed has hidden airline rails, so much more flexible and I used a similar system to hide them ;)

Your woodworking was already excellent when I started watching your channel, but over the past years I really noticed how you upped your editing game. Very complicated scripted jumps and continuous talking, the text and tracking, it's very fun an impressive to watch. I like it very much!

What an epic build! And at the end, the light fixture lining up with the sockets. Just move the sockets down! A drywall saw and a few hours and you're done.
