I'm currently working on my board track racer. In the process of laying out the look I want, sort of a "planning mock-up", making cuts, figuring out what engine I want to put on it, front end layout, searching parts, mocked up a cardboard gas tank, making lots measurements, drawing it up etc. etc. etc. I have decided on Thick Brick cream tires, chrome spokes with brass nipples (if I can find them) with red wheels and a gold pin stripe. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INSPIRATION! My wife hates you...( =

@kosznt Im going to keep it with out brakes just like the original ones back in the day. I do actually have a brake but its not that great but its better then nothing. Its a metal strap on foot brake that i made that instals on my foot. And has screws welded on the bottom. And i down shift to help slow me down as well

You seem so young to apreciate the vintage look of the bike.I like your kind.

I could understand no brakes if it were anything even close to authentic looking, but with an engine like that it's simply not ever going to be close to authentic and brakes are essential. Throw a coaster brake on and nobody would know. The motor is the thing that's going to draw the eye, so nobody but you would notice or count brakes against you, you wouldn't loose anything. If you are going to go authentic as can be you should still have hidden brakes for useability try sprotor setup.

Thats a good looking bike man. Did you keep track of how much you invested into it? I'm sure you had a lot of hours with fabrication and such, but just curious because I'm hoping to make one of these this winter

If i had hat I would put a rear derailleur with a seven speed cassette and shifter and really go fast!
@honeybunchickens8 жыл бұрын
if you put a derailer, it make no sense because it has a transmission built into the engine, plus most derailers are built for bicycles, and small chains, they snap easy and derailers break and bend easily,

I would sneak a brake in there somewhere. ... cool build though.

W/O pedals its useless for street crusing. (Ileagle). Thats if its a 49cc. But good luck w it. BTw it was 10 times cooler when unpainted Rat. Sorry.
@oldhillbillybuckkowalski2 жыл бұрын
Illegal or legal would depend on where you live. Some places if it's 49cc or less you just need to reach a minimum age (14 yes in some states, 16 in some others) and you can ride it without a driver's license. Some states regulate what type of road they can or cannot be ridden on such as not allowed on state highways but can ride on county roads.
