I really enjoy your videos. My husband and I are working towards getting out if the city to homestead. It can't happen soon enough for me!! Anyway, thank you so much for all you share. I've always liked to make, instead of buy but I've really gotten into it since coming to the decision to leave suburbia. Your informative videos have really become a blessing to me. Thank you and Yah Bless!!

The reason I'm concerned about the alcohol isn't that I might 'feel' an effect. Being an alcoholic we don't know the exact amount of alcohol that will trigger us to go on to drink more. Most of us in recovery choose not to take ANY into our system. Do you have any process for us? Thank you.
@RainCountryHomestead6 ай бұрын
Yes, I totally understand that and have said as much in other videos. For alcohol free you can use a solvent of 3 parts non GMO food grade glycerin to one part water

Hello. I am wondering how the almond, coffee and chocolate with the spiced rum extracts turned out? I cannot find the update video. Very curious how they turned out:)))
@RainCountryHomestead3 жыл бұрын
I did do an update a long time ago but I am pretty sure it was in a previous This~N~That but that was so long ago I would not remember which one it was. The almond was weak, I have since learned bitter almond or peach kernels are commonly used to get an almond flavoring. The coffee and chocolate extracts were excellent though.

Could you use apple cider vinegar for making the extracts, maybe just store them for a shorter time? Apologies if you've already covered this.
@RainCountryHomestead4 жыл бұрын
I have made medicinal extracts using my homemade vinegar but I personally do not recommend it for ones used for flavoring. Unless you don't mind that tart taste.

Do you know how to make rum extract?
@RainCountryHomestead3 жыл бұрын
There is no such thing as rum extract, only rum flavoring with is artificial. All one needs to do is purchase a quality rum like Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum.

If I put 1/2 tsp of glycerin, wine and citric acid all are organic would be faster? And if would work good for desserts 🤔thanks, please reply.
@RainCountryHomestead4 жыл бұрын
If you are talking about the extract, you would need more than a tsp so I am not exactly sure what you are asking. I would not recommend citric acid, organic or not.

Can I mix extract this with water and glycerine only ? Not allowed to have any type of wine here ...thanks for the video
@RainCountryHomestead4 жыл бұрын
Yes, 3 parts glycerin, 1 part water. remembering as I said in the video above that it will shorten the shelf life. The glycerin water blend has a shelf life of about 4 months.

Would it be ok to cook the alcohol out of it before pouring it in or no?
@RainCountryHomestead4 жыл бұрын
The alcohol is what extracts it so it is best you don't. If you use it in things you are going to cook anyway, then there is no worry at that point. However, there is still the alcohol free way of using 3 parts food grade glycerin to 1 part water.

I have cacao nibs. Is vodka Ok for this instead?
@RainCountryHomestead4 жыл бұрын
Yes, vodka is always the standard for extract, I just prefer rum for flavor or homemade wine because it is cheap and organic

can i prepare extract with glycerin only is it worth it ??
@RainCountryHomestead2 жыл бұрын
If you are making a glycerin extract, you need to mix in one part water. You can also use honey and water instead of glycerin and water. The reason for he water is to lower the viscosity since honey or glycerin alone is too thick
@samiajre68522 жыл бұрын
