So awesome! I made an arnica extract (called tincture, but it's the same thing) a few years ago (it works wonderfully for bruising) and have also made a couple of other herbal extracts but I never actually thought about making kitchen extracts. I have some rum and a few very dried raisins and now have something to use them for. I will definitely have to play with some ideas. Thank you so much!

So glad to hear from you again. You always have great ideas to use in the kitchen. I love cooking, and am always glad to find a new recipe or helpful kitchen tip. Thanks for this one...I also like to preserve fruit with vodka. Sometimes, I add red wine to cherries and let it sit in the fridge until I run out of wine and then I go to the jar of cherries and use the wine. Then I eat a few cherries...happy me!!!

I love vodka sauce for pasta. Also, dry sherry is good for cooking chicken, soups, and also for drinking. It's great to mix dry sherry and cream sherry half and half. So lovely. Please try it. I use Taylor brand, but you can choose Sheffield or Harvey's Bristol Creme sherry. Sheffield is less expensive, but Harvey's costs more. I prefer Taylor, as it is medium priced and delicious.
