This video is perfect! I appreciate the effort you made in showing what each spice looked like as you named them and then gave the measurements of each. It sounds simple to do but there are so many videos that don't do that at all. You made this video easy to follow and I thank you for a terrific recipe! I look forward to watching your other videos.

I learned what you said on Cooking Channel a few weeks ago, that curry was not readily available in years past as it is now, which really surprised me. I love the step by step process you show in this video Aditi, it is so precise and detailed!

This is not completely true. I guess it depends on the region to which you hail. I'm from Kashmir & we have been preparing large batches which are crushed then cured in oil. The longer it cures the better the taste. We generally make it in the summer when it is warmer & make enough to last till the next summer. Which is used throughout the year for making all kinds of curry. This has been done for many a generations. I was just curious as to how this was made as ours is quite spicy & a lot of recipes I wanted to try called for it. Thanks for sharing! Remain exultant.

Hi! What blend of spices would you recommend for a hot, flavorful Indian spice curry? I keep trying to find one in stores, but I find nothing but milder forms :( .

I use a clean coffee bean grinder, a food processor will work also. The Magic Bullet Moana Ashley is talking about is a type of food processor.

. I noticed the dishes that my coworkers bring for their lunches have a distinctive sharp smell that is missing from most store bought and restaurant curry. Is that hing powder?
@eateastIndian9 жыл бұрын
+Leester Could be but usually once cooked, hing wouldnt smell.. it could just be combination of cooked spices in the food.. When these spices remain on the shelf in powdered form they begin to loos their flavour, aroma etc.. its best to grind them fresh or in small batches to get the best taste :)

I know there is no set curry powder. There being a lot of variation in the recipes with amounts and types of spice used but I know I don't like the store bought ones. They must have something in them I don't like. This one though simpler I think I might like.

I dont have any dried chilies can I use chili powder? and how much?
@andrewjackson74769 жыл бұрын
Irishgirl41 Of course; although I find your standard chili powder a little too acidic. Just go to your Mexican store and buy a whole bunch of different peppers and experiment. You can even use a little of Japanese chili oil. It will give you a bloody red oil look to the mix. It's great in Ramen.

I remember as a kid in the 60s grandma buying curry rice at the supermarket, oh it was good! have never seen that since. These days I like some curry on just about everything- pizza, bagels with cheese and garlic, curry stew with chickpeas- wow, I want to make my own instead of buying those those stupid little $1.79 Tone's spice packages at the supermarket. I guess like most people I always assumed curry you buy at the supermarket in the little jars was just ONE spice like pepper, salt etc! What kind of currency is "C" in your shopping bag??

So is that why my mom and sister have curry allergies? Because these ingredients seem to aid your stomach but the very smell of curry makes mom nauseous. And even I get bowl issues on it.
@eateastIndian9 жыл бұрын
+Orion Ake (Handlebar-Orion X) :) could be. Too much spicy food can clean out or irritate your gut so everything in moderation is best. I am addicted to curry :)
