Homemade Disneyland Star Tours Attraction (Full Ride Experience)

This is a homemade Disneyland Star Tours attraction built for my daughter's Disneyland themed birthday party at our house.
It's the original 1987 version of Star Tours featuring the glorious Paul Reubens (Pee-wee Herman) as the rookie pilot Capt. Rex. It's his first flight and he's still getting used to his programming.
Back in the fall of 2019 my daughter Indy requested a Disneyland themed party at our house for her birthday in April. We built a couple of attractions for it but due to Covid when her birthday came around we had to shelve everything and postpone the party until 2021.
This past April, a full year and a half after she made the initial request we were finally able to do Disneyland at home for Indy's birthday. This is the Star Tours portion of the party.
Han Solo, Princess Leia and Darth Vader were played by our good friends Mike Capes @mikecapes, Grace Demarco @gracedemarco_ and Matthew Dawson. We may eventually put some pictures and videos up on IG @father.of.the.ride
Also...
We do not make ANY MONEY in any way from these videos. Not from youtube views or anything else. This party was something fun for our kids and their friends and families to experience, and these subsequent videos were created for those kids and anyone else who might enjoy them. We hope that these videos are viewed by copyright owners as a love letter to Disneyland and to everyone who feels a special connection to that magical place.

I just want to know that I am sitting here in tears, very emotional over this whole video. It reminded me of my first experience at Star Tours when I was about 6 years old, and how it was one of the highlights of my youth. You did a good thing here, and even though those kids may never be able to experience the original ride ever again, it's good to know that how amazing that ride continues to be and won't be forgotten. Oy, this nearly made me cry. My 27 year old millennial self would adore riding this simulator to experience the original Star Tours again. I'm lucky enough to have experienced both the original version and when they changed the animatronic to C-3PO. I haven't been to the park since 2004, but this was an amazing throwback to watch. Insane props to you for making this beast of an experience and preserving a theme park experience like no other.

THIS is the most AMAZING and IMAGINATIVE thing i have ever seen!!!!!! Being a HUGE STAR WARS FAN (original) and Disney fan. There are no words to describe this...YOU all did an INCREDIBLE JOB!!!!! The kids looked super happy...and that's the MAIN THNIG afterall..... the ONLY thing i think that would have made it even more immersive, is when opening the garage door to "escape" Vader, you could have made a false "tunnel"/wall curving away from exit and covering/blocking the view from the outside (so neighbors/other kids waiting) wouldn't see what was happening..... Again KUDOS to you all....The FORCE is definitely with this Family!!!!!!!!!!!

The kids were in groups going through the various parts of "Disneyland" in and around our house (we will be posting the videos of those areas soon). Star Tours was at the very end. Those who had not been through the Star Tours portion of the the trip yet were still going through the other areas, so when each group got to Star Tours they had no idea what they were going to see and experience inside.

Watching this was honestly incredible. Even as a kid, after my sister and I had experienced Star Tours for the first time, we had always tried to re-create the ride in our own imaginative world with cardboard boxes. You sir, have taken this to the next level for the upcoming generation of kids who will never get to experience the awe, originality and amazement of the original ride - and for that, I salute you. Growing up in the 90's my family had season passes for Disneyland and would go at least a couple times a year. Star Tours was ALWAYS the first ride we hit up because it was my favorite. It's definitely cheesy and a bit embarrassing to admit it, but when I rode it for the last time before they closed it down for the referb I was pretty emotional and fighting back tears knowing I would never be able experience the original ever again. Though I applaud the tech of the revision and it's capability for varying trips, but it's an impossible fight for it fill the shoes of the original for me no matter how good it turned out. Seven year old me would never get to yell at R3X for being such a terrible pilot ever again. This thing you put together would have absolutely blown my mind as a kid, and I have so much appreciation for what you put together here. Thank you for sharing. I might be crying just a little bit as I write this...

This was so perfectly done. I love the original Star Tours. Have the various 3 3/4" figures that were released, as well as the fantastic blue and white Starspeeder 3000 ship mint in box that has the various sound effects that was released back in 2002. It was always a joy to take ride on the Disneyland attraction back when it was open and I lived in California. Unfortunately, the current Star Wars area and rides just don't measure up to the classic in any way, shape or form IMO.
