I am French, just moved to Canada in my 30s and the only difference between my mom's onion soup and yours is that my mom never added sugar. Flour is important though! We would have Gruyère as for cheese but shredded very finely so it melts within seconds. Also we were not grilling anything because 6 kids + my parents haha that's a lot of work. Onion soup was a typical cold weather dinner dish 🤤 Thank you for this video ❤️

We always made our French onion soup with 4 types of "onions"... regular brown skinned onions, Leek, Chives and green Spring onions. The flavor becomes more complex than with just one kind of onion. Anyway, that is how we served it in Switzerland where I am from.

One of my favorites (and luckily only I like it, so i get extra!)! You have such a joyous way of explaining in great detail how to do something. I've been very nostalgic recently, thinking about my grandmother's food that I regretfully never learned her recipes. This takes me back to my childhood! Thank you! 😊

Looks delicious. I love onions. They're in nearly every dish I eat. Lee doesn't like them. Daniel likes them sometimes. I guess I can make a one serving portion for myself. Still waiting for the money to get the equipment required to do the job Then I can have my orientation and start working.

This is one of my favorite types of soup. I love to use Vidalia when they are in season. I usually buy no less than 20 lbs of the. Some of them get processed and frozen, and others are freeze dried. Oh, and Mary, thank you so much for introducing me to sucanat. It’s so hard to find locally so I have to order it from Azure Standard. That’s actually where I can get it at the best price.

What do you think about bread conditioners or additives to enhance bread life?? TY! Would you consider addressing this or doing a show on it?

Great question. I don’t think any of those additives are a good idea.

Love French onion soup. I take the slice of bread and brown them in the oven and than put cheese on them and then cube thr bread to let them float on top of the soup. I find it hard to eat the soup with the bigger pieces of bread to break it up in the soup and I usually end up making a mess and this is much neater.

Hello Mary I love french onion soup and I love making it from scratch my daughter on the other hand is a vegetarian so I have to make hers with my homemade vegetable broth. I was wondering if you could show more vegetarian meals. I have created for her but I could always use some more fresh ideas specially on how to store certain items so they don't go bad for instance mushrooms I dehydrate them grind them into a powder and I'm able to store them that way and put the powder in the meals I make for her because that is a good protein for her to get rather than protein from meat. So any suggestions you might have I would be truly grateful Thank you

If you (the generic you, anyone except me) want to win me over in a hurry, just put a nicely broiled bowl of this in front of me. Even better, when I finish the first, put ANOTHER bowl in front of me :)

Although I don't begrudge you the success of your book (I bought a copy). Advertising 2 sets of your books in the background of your small kitchen is a bit over the top. Might I kindly suggest only one set? Please accept my humble comment as constructive criticism. Thank you for all you do.
@connielosee88118 ай бұрын
Oh, goodness. I don't find the books in the background a problem. If one does not toot one's own horn, who will? I bought your book. More power to you and bring us more books. Thanks.
