I am making these kolaches as I watch the video so I can get it exactly like yours, but I have one problem. I don't have Kosher salt, only Idolize and Sea salts. Will it be ok with one of those? If not I will send my husband out in this snowstorm and get kosher. I want these rolls perfect. You guys are really GREAT together. Love your channel and love you both ♥️ Thank You so much for such mouth watering and delicious recipes. Peggy from New Hampshire 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹

Hi My Favorite Couple, I forgot to let you know how my Kolaches came out. The truth is, They Were To Die For. They were honestly a big hit in my house, didn't last a day. I am going to make more this weekend and freeze some so I will have them the next day or two. I'll double the recipe or just make a separate second batch. Thank You both from the bottom of my heart ❤️

I made kolaches recently VERY similar to they way ya'll made them, but the bread wasn't as sweet as I would have liked. On a later batch, I added a few tablespoons of honey to the dough and they came out just perfect. Ya'lls look great too! I've never tried polish sausage, usually just smoked sausage, I'll put that on my list of fillings to try. Great job!

My grandmother made these for our dinners for over 50 years. Her mother taught her in the late 1800s,,they were Czech and my grandmother always shaped them like yours and filled them with cooked prunes..they were never round like most of the postings on You Tube, they also had a lite powdered sugar glaze on top, Served with dinner warm with butter

I made 2 batches of Kolaches like I said I would and again they were very much lived. I froze the second batch before I baked it so I'll have some when I'm ready for them again. That will be when I'm home alone and enjoying them myself. I'll be thinking of ya'all every bite. Love You Both ❤️

Ms. Sandy, let me just tell you. Your kolache recipe is a bomb. The most delicious dough I’ve ever tasted. I have been baking for almost 2 months ( due to Covid lockdown) and to kill time, been trying new things. I have tried several dough recipes and they did not come out as great as yours. The dough is sweet, soft, buttery and just simply delicious. And one more thing I noticed, when I’m kneading the dough, it did not stick to my hands nor the table. I don’t have a mixer ( and don’t plan on buying one because I don’t know if I’ll be using it regularly, anyway) so I knead my dough manually and every time, I would make a sticky mess but not this time. THANK YOU SO MUCH❤️❤️❤️ I’m a fan now😊

This is so funny. While I cook a lot, I haven't ever made Kolaches. And as your video started unfolding, I realized that almost every pan and dish is near identical to what I use. And I would guess like you, I went from gas to electric years ago and there is a difference. I also like to do the same as you, which is a lot different than many recipes, and that is to mix the dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately. Out of all things bread dough isn't one of those things you measure and are done with as it always turns out best to have some flour to add at the end for the right texture. So I'm gonna have to try your recipe. I have at least looked at the sausage links in the stores and while Little Smokies are at a good price the ones for the length needed for Kolaches are overpriced. I'll do the same as you with slicing the larger sausages rope as I have a favorite Eckrich that I like. Thanks so much, from a neighbor Okie, for you to take the time to do this video!

These are not Kolaches. These are sausage rolls. A kolache is a square pastry with filling on top. Many people confuse the two
@Mystterrio4 жыл бұрын
Actually koláče come from the word kolo - (wheel, circle) and are supposed to be round, definitely not squared. Basically if they don't look like sweet mini pizzas, something is wrong.

@@LawtonDigital i live in Texas and my great grandmother's recipe was the 1st to be published in a church social. This is Shipleys version of a kolachi. If you were to go right outside of Austin you are hit with tons of bakeries that make genuine kolachi's . The original recipe were made from German/ Czechoslovakian decidents that migrated in Shiner, Yoakum, Hallitesville . And i used to work for a sign company and got to meet Mr. Shipleys grandson Paul and he admitted he had to use donut dough for his kolachi's bc the recipi's were kept within families and passed down generations. So please dont tell me that this is what Texans think a kolachi is..bc your very wrong.
