Смотрю видео этого Мастера - как хорошие песни слушаю. И ведь что характерно - весь инструмент у него САМОДЕЛЬНЫЙ - за некоторым исключением. Хвала твоим рукам, Мастер.

Well, there are both negative and positive comments on here. My first thoughts were, who would melt metal wearing sandals and I was quickly very skeptical. While I still believe you weren't practicing very good safety, I work in the medical profession so that's where my head is, you did an amazing job. Unfortunately, being that I'm not a machinist, I think I will have to by one rather than making one myself, lol.

It is a homemade lathe: that's his home, he's making it. What do you have to do to get cred? Dig the ore in your back yard? Homemade, DIY, scratch-built, pretty fine distinctions for ESL tubers. Watch all 7 videos, this is some nice work!

Seems to me that the head stock construction, spindle drive and where the spindle came from is more important than a bunch of repetitive lathe work. I would love to build my own lathe but I'm not going to start by casting some intermediate piece so that I can bolt it on to some other piece whose construction isn't shown in the video.

+Golf Carts no Golf! Well its quite simple, if you dont have a lathe All you have to do is make a really simple lathe from wood that has wood gears and is powered by an other person or using a windmill, you can use the lathe to make a really bad iron lathe then you will use the iron lathe to make an other lathe that is much better then the first one you would have to repeat this until you have a lathe that you are satisfied with !! Ofcourse in modern world you dont have to do so much work because all the tools and machine are already available for so much cheaper and are also more accurate

if you already have a lathe why make a lathe? also i would use 3d printing to make moulds for that myself if i was making one and my it was summer again so i could run the forge... I may do that... one can make excellent moulds using sand and Sodium silicate then when the sodium silicate binder sets you can burn out the plastic or 3d printable casting wax if your being fancy and get a nice sand mould you can then pour into... Admittedly the lathe would probably still be good since with 3d printing you never get perfect circles just a roughly rounded polygon I am onestly surpriced all the aluminium did not all pour out the way you cast that thing... but good idea not to do that over cement.... that is a good way to get exploding cement propelling molten aluminium all over the place...

I was thinking the same thoughts when I was watching the video. Looks like a lot of the parts, such as washers, bushings, and gears come from motorcycle transmissions. I would have never even thought of using that. I live in Tyler Texas, and looking for stuff like that here, isn't easy. There are very few salvage or junk yards, that will let you scrounge for hardware, and those that do, charge to damn much for their crap!
