Honesly, the quality of a mascara isn't in the formula, it's based on how good the brush is. So this tutorial is perfect because even though the formula might not be as great as the store bought mascaras, as long as you use the right mascara brush, it'll look great. I recommend the maybelline falsies or the miss manga one :)

you can also use a baking syringe. you pull the Syringe apart and put you mixture inside the tube of the Syringe and then put the end of the Syringe back on and it help you transfer the mascara formula better with out risk of mess

Easier method: → - Vaseline - Eyeshadow (Optional step: you can also use any type of oil like virgin, olive, coconut or castor oil for healthier lashes) Mix those two until you get the paste - You can use anything to apply it at least it has brussels or bristles Hope this helped it only takes about 2 minutes to make and if u can't go to the store or if ur broke to buy new mascara try this! Or follow the lady's method ♥ xo

I also found with recycling old mascara tubes you can take the top inner part out to easily clean out the tube. Wide rimmed tubes are easier to clean just to keep in mind!

It has been strongly suggested online NOT to use activated charcoal! The grains are not very fine and could turn out clumpy and chunky. You don't want that falling into your eye. Try grinding the charcoal with a mortar and pestle, or something similar. Another suggestion is to use eyeshadow or brow powder cake. These are already formulated for use around the eyes.

Hi! I made a mascara similar to this but it was an utter failure. I'm going to try again but with your recipe. I do have one question. Does this mascara dry as well as normal mascara? I would suggest using cosmetic grade black mica powder instead of the activated charcoal (gritty, course, and known to cause irritation). Also, is the aloe vera gel pure or does it have preservatives in it (potassium sorbate, citric acid and xanthan gum)?

I once bought a natural-ish mascara that really smelled of beeswax even long after I'd applied it, which I loved, and apparently so did my dog. She would keep sniffing all around my face after I'd applied my makeup, and even try to lick my eyes when I cuddled with her (which I must admit was kinda gross..). I never repurchased it though because it smudged so bad. By the early afternoon I would be completely grey underneath my eyes. I do love the thought of natural mascara though. Might just try this out sometime!
