Homemade Mexican Mazapan!

The mazapan is a typical and well known candy in Mexico. It is sweet and fragile, it crumbles easily and I dare say that it is one of the best known candies in Mexico. This delicious candy is extremely easy to prepare and is made with ingredients that we easily find in any country in the world.
Ingredients:
2 cups of unsalted peanuts
1 3/4 cups of powdered sugar

This is the most accurate and authentic recipe I've found! Other recipes have their mazapans looking a little greasy from the peanut oil from overmixing the peanuts and sugar.

I plan to make this with P2 (powdered peanuts. I will toast it more in a pan) and peanut butter (to add the oils/fats back and enough to make it less crumbly than the store bought).

Super carefully! There is no trick. Mazapans are super fragile, so just have patience.

Are the peanuts you are using dry-roasted peanuts, or just regular unsalted?

Just regular unsalted. You can also use salted peanuts and the mazapan also tastes great like that!

You can use a blender or use ziplock bags and smash them

Hi Anitha, I dont think it will work, because usually peanut powder or flour is defatted. And you need the peanuts oil to be the glue binding the confectioners sugar with the processed peanuts.
