Most of my family has passed on or have moved away. Favorite thanksgiving memory occurred after a hurricane. Two turkeys in a smoker and nephew kept peeking in. During the night after he went to sleep the turkeys came out and a pair of Cornish game hens went in. The look on my nephew’s face when he went to check the turkeys was priceless. May have to get a few of the Hormel complete turkey packs to scratch that turkey craving.

Dollar Tree is your answer. They sell small cans of green beans ready to eat. They also sell ready to eat packages of mashed potatoes by Homestyle. They also sell little jars of ready to eat gravy. For dessert: 7-11 sells shelf stable apple pies. They serve one person. They also have cherry. Dollar Tree also sells small cans of cranberry jelly by Ocean-spray. I am a senior on a budget and this is how I put together my Thanksgiving dinner. Dollar Tree has cornbread mix too- for those folks able to bake at home. Happy Thanksgiving! ❤

Meals like this for those hunkered down after Hurricanes Helene and Milton, may not be the best, but they will be remembered forever in family lore. My first hurricane was Hurricane Audrey on my birthday in 1957, in Beaumont, TX. We lived in a "progressive" all electric Reddy Kilowatt house. My dad was an oil and natural gas pipeline engineer and told my mother to cook up some meals before the storm. She made chicken gumbo and a shrimp dish. My dad and I went out and bought a Coleman double burner stove and white gas. I still remember those meals. My mom even baked my birthday cake while we were gone. Not sure that they were the best, but here I am 67 years later sharing the memories.

Hi DBA. I was so inspired by last weeks video, MRE Charcuterie Board, that for Christmas for my Daughter & SIL I am putting together a Shelf Stable Charcuterie / Grazing Board in a Bag. It covers all the bases. Deli Meats, Cheese, Dips, Spreads, Fruit, Olives, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Dried Breads & crackers, Cookies, and Chocolate . They are very hard to shop for, so Thank You for the Great Ideas.

I watched between 3:30 and 4:00Am Monday morning, we are over the international date line at our locational in the Philippine islands. In the early years of my retirement adventure, a large frozen turkey was purchased at the supermarket and defrosted for a few days in the refrigerator. Some friends I had invited over set up a support, fired up the locally produced lump charcoal and spent the morning roasting the bird. It worked surprisingly well. Later, I learned that you can sometime find a fresh turkey at local wet markets. When I say fresh, I mean REALLY fresh, as in live and kicking! Our favorite local supermarket has been stocking Ocean Spray cranberry sauce this time of year, both the jellied and whole cranberry, for may years now. We load up when we find it. I hope there is some in stock again this year, my supply is diminishing. Now-a-days, you can find roast turkey at S&R wholesale but honestly, not all that good. We keep it simple at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years dinner. There are two dedicated cooks (Beautiful Bride and Mother-in-law producing their signature dishes so we grab a couple rotisserie chickens from one of the dozens of local vendors. The juicy chicken with my beloved whole cranberry sauce is my yearly taste of home. One of the things I do miss from my northern New England hobby farm was heading down to a patch of wild cranberries I had located and harvesting two five (5) gallon buckets of wild cranberries. I shared a gallon or two of the berries with a widow lady who loved to bake and always received some baked goods in return. MY secret recipe was making my own whole cranberry sauce with very ripe oranges from the discount shelf. The juice and some zest from the orange skins combined with brown sugar or our home made maple syrup was the ticket to fantastic cranberry sauce. We sometimes added grated ginger root, cinnamon or a pinch of nutmeg for a different flavor. In the spring time, I will be opining how much I also miss maple syrup season.

turkey spam, ideally baked for texture/flavor. Add some crispy fried onions to the green pea crisps. And yes, instant mashed potatoes (the sort that you just add hot water, Aldis small packs are ready to go) Lots of ways to make small tweaks and improve it over a 'complete'

I live in Utah on a ski resort with lots of snow. During the summer I take my RV 25’ trailer to a reservoir 2 hours away and drop my 10 crawfish traps. I usually capture 150lbs. I grew up on the Gulf Coast and love crawfish. While my traps with chicken as bait does its thing during the night at the reservoir trapping crawfish, I have taken a few snacks with me. I’m a Hormel Complete lover. I like just about everything they have and especially the turkey and gravy. My 2 day outing with the generator running which allows me to use my microwave, I have consumed at least 4 of those complete meals per my 2 days. Your content today brought back that fun memory. Thank you

Very interesting. During my LE career I worked most Thanksgivings and usually ended up with a Swanson's TV dinner of turkey and mashed potatoes, and later the microwave version. It always seemed as soon as my beat partner or detective partner had our food warmed up properly, we would get dispatched on a run or called out to a scene. I think I had the Hormel Turkey and dressing years ago, and if I remember correctly it had actual turkey slices instead of turkey loaf. I'll have to try the dried snap peas, as I've seen them and been curious.

Good morning from Central Texas. As stated, I wake early on Sunday morning, make coffee, fire up my laptop, and wait for your vid to drop. Our condolences for the loss of your Inlaws, it was quite obvious that they were close to your heart. My Bride, and Myself enjoy our Thanksgiving meals at home. Therefore we, most of the time, prepare non traditional meals. This week is South Texas Tex-Mex. Green Enchiladas, Spanish Rice w/ Charrizo Cornbread Stuffing, Pork Tamales, all made from scratch. Our neighbor is bringing over fresh tortillas, and we in turn are preparing a Pecan Pie & Pumpkin Pie for her Family. These are simple pleasures, and are the best. Please continue with your channel, as long as what you do brings You happiness. I will continue to follow you and the content that you bring. That being said, underwater basket weaving is not on my list of," OH YEAH" things to get excited about, soooo Please do not do it. LOL Here's wishing You, and Family a Happy Thanksgiving along with your new beginning of many happy memories. Thanks Brother for all you do. See you on the trail.

My favorite dipping sauce/sandwich spread is spicy savory mayo. For every tablespoon of mayo mix in about a quarter teaspoon of soy sauce and a quarter teaspoon of hot sauce. I use sriracha myself but any kind of heat will do it. I eyeball the measurements for the most part and you can always up the hot sauce for little more heat. Works great as a dip or on sandwiches.

Greetings from Pennsylvania. Thanks for the Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner MRE. A good combination of food choices you have made. You may want to try dried apples or other dried fruits and as mentioned below if canned goods can be used green beans or peas, cranberry sauce, etc. I liked your choice of chocolate and cranberries for dessert. Regarding the passing of your loved ones, I'm sincerely sorry for your loss. I can remember many in my own family who have passed away (no longer at Thanksgiving Day or Christmas dinners). Greetings from Southern California. I have become addicted to Tajín, a Mexican spice mix consisting predominantly of lime, chili peppers and salt. You can often find it in small bottles in the produce section, or BIG bottles in a 2-pack at COSTCO. Try that on your dried green beans. Or any fruits. Or on eggs. It gives a nice little hit of salt, a faint taste of lime, and then the warmth of chili peppers. Try it. Enjoyed this video as I have enjoyed many of the others.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Now that the secret is out about the completes turkey, there may be a disturbance in the supply chain! I will say though, that completes is better microwaved, but the trucker's lunchbox does fit the bill if there were trouble. I need to build something to use to heat with Sterno, although the open flame is a concern, and there is always the other device you've used to heat items with. I'm now on a quest to find a shelf stable, no bake dinner roll that can't also be used as a chemistry set! (I ask a lot, I know.) Your videos on Sunday morning do make my coffee taste better. This video was fun..... They all are lol. We celebrated Thanksgiving in Oct it's a Canadian thing. To bad Cranberry jam packets don't have a longer shelf life or I would add those. I got laid off from work just in time to celebrate Xmas so I am fixing some stuff at home. Enjoy your Thanksgiving celebration family and friends are good for the soul. Blessings

You’re doing great! I really enjoy your videos and look forward to what you come up with next! I really do like your videos. I'm planning on using your ideas to supply my husband with food. He never knows when he's going to have to work an extra shift until they tell him, usually right before leaving time. So shelf stable food that he can keep in the vehicle, even at 100° +/-, is a good solution for him. Thank you.

I was stuck, one year, at a well site, running some tools and couldn't leave. I brought a few of the Hormel Turkey dinners for dinner for myself, the engineer and the other operator. It wasn't as good as a fresh cooked turkey and dressing, but it hit the spot and dulled the disappointment of missing out of the holiday (that and triple time... LOL).

Another great video. Your main weekly videos are a staple for my Monday morning getting ready for work routine. They drop at around 23:00 Sunday night (Australian Central time GMT+9:30) and Ill normally see it a couple of hours later. Being an Australian I can't comment much on Thanksgiving. However, as far as I know, the only thing missing was something with pumpkin. It seems it's all about turkey, gravy, cranberries/sauce and pumpkin pie. Seems like you nailed it there. Got any plans for a Christmas MRE?

My buddy, I want to let you know my name is Gordon Fisher. I have a KZbin channel Fisher’s outdoor adventures and I’ve written to you a couple times giving you some suggestions on items I have found and you have liked them. Anyhow, I live in Centerville Pennsylvania in if you ever up this way, I love to take it to some stores around here that maybe you don’t have down in Tennessee. Just watched your Thanksgiving holiday dinner absolutely fantastic as all your videos. Hey even whenever you have one that taste like crap we’re still learning something. So I just wanted to give you a shout out wish you a very happy Thanksgiving for you and your whole family and keep up the good work. Your subscriber lift is going to be potentially now. • I’m laughing hysterically as I watch you sip that drink because today I saw a kitchen towel (for sale) that said: “Get Your Balls Out, It’s Canning Season.” 😂 • Raisins belong in a box or trail mix. Period! Too many times I’ve found those nasty old grapes masquerading as chocolate chips in baked goods and that’s just wrong! • Cranberries get more latitude from me. I enjoy a cranberry muffin occasionally That was a wonderful video 👍🏻 Thank you Happy Thanksgiving 😊

I'm from the Ozarks. It's a beautiful place. Driving back there next week to be around family. I don't know I'd do the sugar free cranberry drink, but there is something to the Hormel Turkey and stuffing for sure. I like it with a lot of black pepper. Also the Harvest snaps have black pepper and wasabi versions but nothing that's gonna be traditionally spicy like jalapeno that I've seen. Happy Thanksgiving y'all.
