Homemade Scratch Art

Making scratch art is so fun and easy! You will need crayons or oil pastels, liquid black paint and dish soap. This is a great way to practice your drawing skills without using a plain piece of paper.

I love your work.I have made several scratch art creations, but I created them while attempting to teach dementia patients how to make them.So I was not completely happy with my result.I didn't use dish soap so maybe I'll try that.I had problems with the paint peeling and chipping off as I scratched.I used old tempera, so maybe that was the reason.I love the look of any drawing on a black surface.Thanks for your demo!.😊

Thank you for the kind words, Kristina! The dish soap really helps, I bet the tempera caused it to chip. Tempera can be really chalky and flakey even in it's best condition. I used super cheap acrylic craft paint and was happy the results. Thanks so much for contacting me- and keep making art! x0x0

I received an etch starting kit last night for my birthday. There's 8 already pre made and 8 empty that I have to create the design myself. So far, I love it. Though, it even says that to create my own etching board that I needed gouach. Since I don't like gouach, I thought of using my acrylic and my oil pastels. Thanks for the info. I'll definately use my black acrylic.
