Excellent tutorial, not too fast and it explains everything brilliantly. Cheers!

Hey I just wanted to say thanks! I used this for over a year and even took it with me to China! It works great for beginners and I will now move on to a Monocam... Thank You for helping me on my beginner months!

Awesome tutorial. Went out and got everything for 35$ Didn't take long at all to build, did a few quick test runs, very impressed by the quality. Didn't think it'd be that steady. Have a Nikon D5100 mounted on top. Thanks for this!

I check Lowes too, they were the same price for me. However, I did end up going to Home Depot, I saw the Black Steel version of the parts right next to the galvanized ones, but for half the price. I just finished gluing the whole thing together. It looks pretty nice. I'm leaving in about 15 minutes to go film a concert. Hopefully it comes out great! Thanks again for the design!

Finished it today, first try was a total success, also did a little upgrade to the top

I have to go shoot a bunch of footage of a concert in around 8 hours. Of all the steadicams I saw on KZbin this morning, this one definitely seems the best. Time to go to Home Depot, buy all the supplies and see if I can get it build in time for the show! I'll be sure to follow up with another comment later to day to let you know how it turned out!

Thank you very much David. I made a steady cam rig following the exact dimensions you told. i will upload the making video and send it to you soon. thanks again

Great build, and a nice job on the tutorial. One thing concerns me though, the length of the screw to mount the camera to. It would be very easy to tighten the camera too much, and damage the camera, pushing the screw into the camera body. Use a number of washers on the screw inside the cap to limit the length of the screw protruding. That or cut the screw making it shorter, and filing off any burrs. Thanks for a great video, SUBSCRIBED!

Great vid and steadicam. I have an old Dynex tripod laying around collecting dust and want to use the head from it, but I can't figure out how to get the thing off. And tutorials, or advise on that?

Thanks for the tutorial...your steadicam is with a DSLR camera - would this exact design work with a Panasonic HMC 150 ? It weighs about 4.3 pounds...

This is a great tutorial. Just a bit of advice to everyone. When you're checking for burrs, don't just use your finger like he did. Look first and use steel wool whilst wearing gloves. Metal splinters are VERY undesirable.

Do you have to glue the PVC end cap with the 1/4 inch bolt that goes to the camera on? I would t glue it because I have no tripod heads that would fit on it and it would be a pain to unscrew the camera every time

I just built one, and the picture tilts a bit tothe side. Is there a way to fix it? did I do something wrong? it looks very straight with and without the camera on it. the only thing is that the screw is not completely still in its place.. is there a way to make it tighter? and the camera is also spinning in place on the screw, not when moving, but it is not steady in place as well...

The purple primer is thinner then water so it is very easy to spill and it STAINS everything, PERMANENTLY! So do this in an area of your house that a small spill wont hurt anything and wear something you don't mind staining.
