Nice to see that I'm not the only one who keeps leftover parts. Great project. I built some drawers almost exactly like that several years ago with butt joints and brad nails. It wasn't long before I was reinforcing the fronts with screws. Totally underestimated how heavy the contents can get in drawers that size.

I enjoy your channel. Great ideas. I built something similar a couple of times. One for a station wagon and one for a pickup truck. I used tracks from an old garage door and could pull the entire floor out almost all of the way. Lol. Of course, it was easily removable like yours.

Really nice build! So many of these guys that build these drawers on here waste so much space on/around the edges (the wheel wells).. i like how you make those spaces easy to get to and still useable. I also appreciate simple deep drawers for more stuff. The dividers are how i would make them also.. no need to cut curfs into the side walls. Your build is again so easy to completely remove the entire system from the bed ..than just reinstall when needed. And the lighting is a brilliant idea!

Amazing stuff! One suggestion, if I may, a little foam in each compartment with cutouts (in the shape of your cordless tools for example) and you can keep it all from bouncing around while you're driving! Keep it up and God bless.
@LegitStar3 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea. My suggestion was to put rubber stops on the front of the drawers. That way when the doors shift while driving it doesn't ruin the inside plastic of the Truck bed door/the drawers themselves.

Agreed, Amazing stuff but totally needs something to prevent those power tools from sliding and bouncing.

I notice you said in a comment a year ago that the price was "Around" $280. However, in the description you put the absolute cost was $280. That makes it hard to trust that $280 was in fact the "absolute cost". However, you made a very well thought out video even adding tips and ticks of the trade that other's don't really show.
@FrankGraffagnino3 жыл бұрын
great stuff. you might think about putting something removable in the bottoms so that over time when it builds up with oil and grease you have something that will absorb that without letting it get into your wood.

Nice tool box, Glen! I'll email you my shipping address! lol An idea on adding a small door to the left: Cut and paint a door to fit the hole, then embed small neodymium button magnets around its edge (1 near each corner should do), then embed matching magnets in the surrounding opening, so that it 'floats' in place at the correct depth, but can be easily pulled away by the handle. You can even add a skinny black tether between the door and the box, say a foot or so long, and lay it up on top of the toolbox when not in use, so you don't misplace it, or so it stays nearby if contents shift and knock it out of the opening. So it wouldn't really contain any contents (of course, neither does leaving it open, so nothing lost), but it would give you that uniform appearance you were after.
