Not to mention that the meat grinder usually includes the funnels used to fill the casings. No sense in storing two separate single use gadgets when one can do the work of both.

i ahve one that is an attachment to by mixer/food processor. I use it loads. I like being able to get one joint of meat from the butcher, then portion it up to make mince and sausages as well. IN fact i made venison burgers the other day, from a leg that i got hold of! The grinder has all the nozzles for piping as well/

I have never laughed so much as I did tonight! My dad used to make sausage, in South Africa we call it boerewors. I was trying to tell you - I know you can't hear me - how to put the casing on the sausage stopper.....Truly, almost peed in my pants! The butcher is right, the filling needs to be a bit wetter and the sausage just slides onto the table. Mostly you guide it with your hand, so that the pugs don't get a chomp of it. Also, with the contents being slightly more wetter, you're able to twist the sausage when it is done. Good effort, and thanks for the pure enjoyment of this video....Barry's mum, I actually own one of those old fashioned mincers, although I don't make sausage anymore, I do sometimes use it to make cookies. I hope that you received the keys for your new house today, and good luck with the packing and moving. Looking forward to this weeks vlog to find out haw it is going...xxx

Hi Barry, Love to see you making sausages. your kids will have great fun helping you. I saw you having trouble mincing the meat, so talk to your butcher, ours is super, he will sell us the meat, we then go home and mix our spices, herbs and veg into the meat, then return it to him, and he minces it for us. You could even take a container of additives with you so he can mince it on the spot. Minced together, the flavour is spread evenly throughout the sausage.

Those sausages look great!! A couple of tips for next time... a grinder has a blade that turns behind the extruding plate, so the blade chops, and it sort of gets reformed by the extruder into mince. Without that, you wont get mince out of it. Also, in the food processor, you might have had more luck if you chopped up the meat smaller first, then whizzed it. When doing the sausages themselves you want to put the cylinder of casing over the tube itself, and when the meat extrudes, it will pull more casing out as it gets longer. its easier to hold in place as well, so one persona has a chance to do it.

I'm sure someone else has already said this but you will near to buy a meat grinder in order to 'mince' your meat to the correct consistency. Of course if you get the right meat grinder it can also stuff your sausage casings.
